Overall, I've had a good year. Yesterday was my birthday. It didn't exactly go as planned. Yet, we always make the best of things.
I've been trying to keep it under wraps. I've been under the weather. If I don't respond to you as quickly or as normal, this is why.
I ordinarily don't share my personal life. I have to admit, I'm a little sad about my birthday. I was really looking forward to it.

Taking advantage of the snow. The lodger shovelled some of it into my cooler so I could move all the veg from the fridge into it, so I can use that crisper bin to thaw the turkey breast and wings.
Will refresh the snow tonight.
Normally, I'd put everything in bags in a snowbank by my door, but *too many* people I don't recognise are wandering about and the racoons are very smart.

I still haven't found my stolen sketchbook journal dumped anywhere and so far as I know, no one else has either, so probably it's gone forever. That's hard. I have a crap memory. It's like 5 months of my life are just - gone. And yet, the outpouring of kindness from strangers has been an unexpected gift, and I am deeply grateful for it. It's hard to express how deeply I feel that, really, but - the other day I was thinking about this, and also thinking about how important it is to spend more time looking forward and less time looking back. And it suddenly occurred to me: maybe what I've gained is more valuable than what I've lost.
