@kenney not directly related but I discovered the #makingOfKarateka an incredible remaster/remake collection of the classic game Karateka brought to life by @DigitalEclipse
This collection holds not only the game in various versions and a full remake, it also gives a full insight into the background of @jmechner and his journey of making this game, including several behind the scenes production artworks and even playable prototypes.
That's how a remaster should be.

@mookie Got it but haven't played it yet. I played through #MakingofKarateka & I only just realized there's a TON of DLC for #Atari50.
This was the 1st Digital Eclipse release of these #GenX documentaries on classic video games. Lots of Jordan Mechner videos... really cool background on #Karateka.

@spinning_bird I don't think any reaction is invalid, whether it's coloured by the context or not.
I'm absolutely loving the @DigitalEclipse titles #Atari50 and #MakingofKarateka. I wouldn't give those games a second look if they were new & free on Steam, but the history's intoxicating.
Last year played #Bioshock, and I'm just now starting the original #FFVII, because they were gaps in my knowledge. Fully expected both to be homework exercises, but surprised by how bloody awesome they both are. -

Among the many images & videos, they have dot-matrix printed letters between Jordan Mechner & #Broderbund Founder Doug Carlston while Jordan was 19yo at Yale.
Including instructions to run the game from the floppy he sent:
"BRUN DEATHBOUNCE"
God, i know I'm old but I just love this stuff. It feels like the whole documentary should be in a a Silicon Valley museum or something.
