I already done a post on this when this was talked about before but this is a prime time for me to move my videos across to my Sharkey Instance.

@[email protected] You've been amazing as my hub for videos for the past few years and thank you for hosting it for as long as you have. Due to costs and storage I'll be moving my content over to my solent.social Sharkey Instance under the @[email protected] (for Vlogging / Motorvlogging) and my @[email protected] account (for gaming content).

This was one of the ideas I had a while back while moving between setting up certain instances but after landing on solent.social i'm glad to be moving these final parts of my Fediverse Idenity across to something I have more control over.

In general your payment plan isn't terrible, it actually seems pretty reasonable for storage these days but as someone with an S3 Bucket it makes more sense to pay fees over here rather than pay for the extra space on an instance I don't check in as often as I should.

I do however agree with a few comments I saw under this post such as making it so you can easily see what storage you are paying for along with a way to get to the payment page easier is always helpful. The other thing I can think of is higher tiers for over the 1TB mark as you are working with Video Files what get pretty sizable after 100+ videos on one channel.

Thank you for being there, if anyone wants to comment or discuss this decision of mine I'm happy for feedback and even constructive discussions about this as a whole. Good luck to everyone staying on MakerTube, I wish you luck and a great time creating.

My #fediverse adventure continues... I keep looking for a way to "move" my #eviltube channel over to #peertube

So far I had a #makertube account, but as they recently are imposing upload restrictions / fees (no hate on that, I understand servers don't grow from trees, just too much in the noob phase still to pay for hosting atm) I will be moving my stuff over to #peertubewtf

For now I started uploading some really old stuff, testing it out... more coming soon..

i keep my workout videos at https://makertube.net/a/3morereps_workouts/videos currently but looks like i'll need to move away as they're gonna make 2 gb space as a max free quota. that would mean only one or two workouts. i chose this hosting as the space for hosting used to be unlimited. i'm for free internet but i know that it's a lot of someone's effort and i know how the motivation to do something for free dies without getting anything in return as it happens with me all the time.

however my own income is zero and i can't afford paying especially for something that i give away for free myself.

so i don't yet know if i want to make an effort to look for a new hosting and continue.
for the moment i don't see a point to continue doing it online publicly as i get nothing myself so it stopped being priority.
still i may do it privately when the autumn starts - but again, if i can find a new free hosting.

Well, #MakerTube is now subscription based...not an expense I wanted to take on but I'm not even at 500MB yet, so not a major concern. TBH, with only 2G I'm not sure if I'll keep making videos since I'm not good at it, my time is limited, etc. I do understand why they went that way though.

Mein Peertube-Account ist ebenfalls bei #MakerTube . Dort habe ich bisher aber noch keine Umzugspläne gemacht... da ich auch eher selten und nur bei echtem Bedarf Videos veröffentliche, lande ich dort auf absehbare Zeit maximal in dem <10 GB Kontingent.
