i'm looking to have a live show, and pieces of the show are saved as separate videos to watch later.

I created one Permanent Live - but not sure how to set it up. How to get thumbnail to show whata going on the live video?

i keep my workout videos at https://makertube.net/a/3morereps_workouts/videos currently but looks like i'll need to move away as they're gonna make 2 gb space as a max free quota. that would mean only one or two workouts. i chose this hosting as the space for hosting used to be unlimited. i'm for free internet but i know that it's a lot of someone's effort and i know how the motivation to do something for free dies without getting anything in return as it happens with me all the time.

however my own income is zero and i can't afford paying especially for something that i give away for free myself.

so i don't yet know if i want to make an effort to look for a new hosting and continue.
for the moment i don't see a point to continue doing it online publicly as i get nothing myself so it stopped being priority.
still i may do it privately when the autumn starts - but again, if i can find a new free hosting.

das kann ich nachvollziehen. Bei mir waren es zwar "nur" 278 Followys... aber immerhin.
Mein Peertube-Account ist ebenfalls bei #MakerTube . Dort habe ich bisher aber noch keine Umzugspläne gemacht... da ich auch eher selten und nur bei echtem Bedarf Videos veröffentliche, lande ich dort auf absehbare Zeit maximal in dem <10 GB Kontingent.

I upgraded to monthly plan on @[email protected] for my heavy data use. Should be good for now up to 100 gig. Currently using 85gig I think so I'll likely need to upgrade soon.

I had missed the last update that @MakerTube was switching to a paid subscription model, to help cover the costs. But, I saw a Toot about it just now, and... I set up my subscription (with some efforts, as my brain fog 😶‍🌫️ was not helping me) plan, which now shows up on my profile info, so I guess I did it right!

My little space on #MakerTube is currently using ±30GB. The plan I entered will support to 100GB, so... I should be OK to share more Koa vids (among others) for some time to come! 😁

Thanks to the Admin and Mods of MakerTube.net for keeping the site ad-free and well moderated/updated. I'd rather support the platform with a small monthly fee, than hassle with ads and selling my data.

I cancelled my yearly donation of €60 to #Makertube ... and switched to the Community Plan, €5 /month, 100 GB Storage as @MakerTube is now moving to a subscription based model :)

I guess I will have to make new videos and upload them so I can continue to embarrass myself in front of the Fediverse ;)

Since I make very little money off of my videos, and none off of Makertube directly, I wonder if I should spend the 5€ a month to host there...? I do get that hosting videos is not free. So it makes sense for them to ask for money. But it doesn't really make financial sense for me...

I wanna move my PeerTube Channels over from MakerTube what should I do?

I have a few PeerTube channels on @[email protected]

The goal was always it to be a temporary home for my YouTube content. The time has come to help MakerTube by moving my content away from there system's freeing up storage space and not costing them a monthly price for hosting.

I've got a few options;
Option 1 -- I upload all channels content to this account. Making it a mix of gaming, vlogging and general posts I've done across video content.

Option 2 -- I create new accounts on solent.social where I upload these bits of content allowing me to boost it with my main account as a 'go check it out' system. (I'm questioning how I'd name them as I currently run two channels of "SamXavia" for vlogging / motorvlogging content and "SamXaviaGaming" for gaming content, but I could rather simplify this name or keep it the same as my main on here is Sam)

Option 3 -- I take more time and start up my own PeerTube instance to make sure that the content gets put onto PeerTube along with the rest of the Fediverse instead of where microblogging systems post to. This option doesn't give much benefit to me other than spending more money from what I can see but I might be missing something.


So help me, what do you think I should do? They are all okay options and have there benefits, but I do really want to make sure my content is out here on the Fediverse and it is better to have proper control / ownership of it.

I'm also thinking of a subscription model for MakerTube like Spectra is discussing it. Price increase at Hetzner's is hitting us quite hard (roughly +30%) and I don't know how to cover costs for future storage increase. Sadly I must say that the donation based approach has its limits. Excited to do a little artist talk at Urbanglass at 6:00 pm tonight as a part of my residency there this summer and officially debut this drawing submission box sculpture. Hooray NEA funding and public engagement- I will choose my one lucky drawing from this box or website will be chosen to be be made in new colors of neon.

In this way we can collaborate and have both co own the outcome.

The acrylic box is made from scraps of acrylic that were once used in a Manhattan ad campaign and were slated for the trash.
