Now the bourgeois treasures nothing more highly than the self (rudimentary as his may be). And so at the cost of intensity, he achieves his own preservation and security. His harvest is a quiet mind which he prefers to being possessed by God, as he does comfort to pleasure, convenience to liberty, and a pleasant temperature to that deathly inner consuming fire. The bourgeois is consequently by nature a creature of weak impulses; anxious, fearful of giving himself away and easy to rule. Therefore, he has substituted majority for power, law for force, and the polling booth for responsibility.

THERE ARE NOW *THREE* POLITICAL PARTIES in our federal gov't: #Democrats, #Republicans, and the #Maga Party (a breakaway faction of the #GOP.)

Our gov't was not designed to handle 3 Parties at once. It was designed as a "50%+1" #MajorityRule system.

If this is to continue, WE MUST switch to a #RankChoiceVoting system at ALL levels or it will become IMPOSSIBLE to govern, with no one Party ever able to pass legislation with over 50% of the vote (short of a landslide election.)

@shsbxheb @cmeier @marcelias I agree. Looking back at the past general elections, "Republicans" haven't been able to win the popular votes for a long time.
It's a despotic minority defrauding voters & trying to destroy democracy, exactly like the co-founder of the former Republican Party, Abraham Lincoln, predicted:

@tultican I believe the following excerpt taken from an essay on Abraham Lincoln & his views of inalienable American democracy is an impressive approach to what today's rebellious "Republicans" (I call them Confedereds) are replaying in our time, following the traitorous, insurrectionary, evil & inhuman example of their Confederate ancestors:

@DontMindMe A constitutional monarchy or democratic monarchy like the UK's may neither be mistaken for an absolutist monarchy like Saudi Arabia's, nor may democracy's dynamic development over time ever be seen as proof of lack of its capability to successfully defend against its despotic, tyrannical enemies.
