You'll hear (or read) me often with a rather anti-western stance and being critical of #Europe as a whole. Yes, I do have a particularly low opinion of the average european. And yet, at the same time, I think the #EuropeanUnion itself, along with its institutions, are the sole civilized refuge still to be found in Europe, the continent of barbarians. The #EU can be criticized from many angles, of course. But overall, it has a fair social system in place for the benefit of its own citizens (others may disagree). One which promotes a humane vision of the #law, #peace between the nations, the open transmision of #culture, defense of civil #liberties, and common #understanding between a mosaic of peoples which, despite all efforts to the contrary, have never ceased to be tribalistic, prejudiced and, above all, extremely stupid.

Nobody can expect mere burocratic institutions to come up with miracles, specially when the very masses they rule are so far from perfect. And if you want to say to me, that my take is being extremely disdainful to the #People (tm), which we ought to kneel before and worship, my answer is "yes"... I'm disdainful, because of historical evidence, contemporary events and finally, personal experience. The #masses, the #majorities, are no heroes of mine, and they never were. Because I don't like being disappointed. I don't consider them to be one bit more honest, brave and principled than the common criminal... quite often, in fact, quite a bit worse. Burn me at the stake if you will, but hell, what else can I say but the #truth.
