Hey Hivemind #Android Troubleshooters:

I run a #mailinabox mailserver that has until about a fortnight ago worked absolutely perfectly. It does everything right, still, except syncing to my Android phone, and I don't know what to do.

When I manually ask it to sync contacts/calendar/mail it will, but then some minutes will pass and that sync will disappear.

In #Thunderbird on my phone, the emails remain and keep working just fine.

I'm guessing it's an activesync issue, but I don't really know how to troubleshoot it on my phone, nor on my mailinabox server.

Ideas?

@epilys I used to be hoasting on DO then moved to Linode. I had this reputation issue for sometime then spamming spamhaus to remove the URL every 24h and then trying to send mails to my domain from Google accounts and following everything to the T from the #Mailinabox recommendations helped me keep the domain safe. Even with spamhaus marking DO or Linode as bad neighbourhood I didn't get my domain onto the list. The few times it did, it didn't seem to hamper my mail delivery IIRC.

I have a newsletter — Venetian Stories about the history of Venice — with a couple of hundred recipients.

For some time, I have managed that with a free WordPress plugin. One of those with a PRO version, and every update shifted some functionality over to the paid version.

When I wanted to move the newsletter from my History Walks Venice site to a dedicated domain, there was no way of migrating the plugin data without moving to the PRO version. Several functions I had used for a long time, were no only available for payment.

Confronted with these futile complications, I decided to return to basics.

The newsletters would be sent from my mail application of choice, as HTML emails, with all the recipients in the BCC field.
