Nach 6,5 Jahren hab ich bei meinem ToutTerrain hinten die Bremsbeläge der Magura-Bremse gewechselt. Vorne hatte ich das vor 3 Jahren gemacht.

Eigentlich nur, weil es letzte Woche schrecklich quietschte. Irgendwann war dann aber wieder Ruhe.

Jetzt stellt sich raus, dass der eine Belag keinen Bremsbelag mehr hat. Also nur noch das Metall. Kann das sein, dass ich letzte Woche den Belag verloren habe?

Nötig war's auf jeden Fall. Auf die nächsten 6 Jahre :-)

Aber nein, die alten Bremsbeläge waren doch noch super, das lag bestimmt nur an meiner fehlenden Kraft, dass die Bremsen so schlecht funktionierten!

Manchmal verstehe ich mich auch nicht. Ich bin sonst eigentlich gar nicht geizig.

Aber immerhin: mein Fahrrad kann jetzt wieder auf Kommando anhalten!

Still unhappy with my #Magura #MT8 #MountainBike brake. After bleeding the damn thing three times, the bite point of the rear brake is still squishy and undefined.

Maintaining the brake is a nightmare compared to what I'm used to, even with the best tools. Magura's own “pro” bleeding kit is a joke.

The brake's materials (mostly plastic and aluminum) appear rather cheap. I managed to tear off a bolt - even though I carefully used a torque wrench - long before reaching the recommended torque. 🤬

Heute zum ersten Mal eine #Magura-Bremse (mit mineralölbasierter Bremsflüssgikeit) entlüftet. Herrje, was für eine schlimme Sauerei! Trotz peniblen Achtens auf Sauberkeit und anschließender Putzaktion fühlt sich irgendwie die halbe Wohnung schmierig an.

Beim nächsten Mal wird's bei mir auf jeden Fall wieder eine Bremse mit DOT 4 bzw. 5.1 … oder noch besser, mit pflanzlichem #Bionol-Bremsenöl von #Trickstuff. 😇

[in German] Nach ~2100 km auf dem #Lastenrad war es heute höchste Zeit, mal die Bremsbeläge zu wechseln.

Dabei wurde mir bewusst, wie wenig Gedanken ich mir die ganze Zeit um die #Magura-CMe-Bremsanlage machen musste. Außer lautem Quietschen der Vorderbremse bei nasser Scheibe bin ich hoch zufrieden. Bremskraft und Dosierbarkeit sind super.

Nur dass man die Sättel komplett abschrauben muss, um die Beläge rauszukriegen, ist ein bisschen meh. Das geht bei anderen Bremsen einfacher.

After ~2100 kilometres on my #cargobike, it was about time to replace all brake pads today.

Which made me realise how happy I am with the bike's #Magura CMe brakes. Apart from the noise the front brake makes when the disk is wet, the CMe didn't give me any trouble at all. Brake power and modulation are just right. The only thing I don't like is the brake callipers need to be removed in order to replace the pads. I prefer pads that can be just inserted in the calliper from the top.

To my surprise, the weight of the two brakes is exactly the same, almost to the gram. The #Magura caliper seems to be a bit heavier than its Trickstuff counterpart (both not in the photo). But the Magura lever, made of some plasticky 'carbotecture' material, is very lightweight.

(I'm kind of sad to see my Formula brake go. It's a stunning beauty, but it never really did the job right until I combined it with #Trickstuff calipers, one of which broke now.)
