CW: denunciation: Avatar Legends French translation bigot marketing rant
I have no hope that Akhane Asylum Publishing, the French publisher, will think that any of this is really a problem. Being pros in the French ttrpg scene, they can't be unaware of this, and of JDG's millions of viewers. Maybe if there is a backlash.
I have more hope that #MagpieGames will discover this choice for #AvatarLegends and, given their commitment to a more open, diverse and inclusive ttrpg scene, rope in their partner.

Today's game of #AvatarLegends on the #MagpieGames discord had its ups and downs.
Upside: Cool characters, nice players and a great Inciting Incident - in the age of Roku, we learned of a Earth kingdom general planning a coup by buying a fleet of pirate ships and retrofitting them for use on land via earthbending. We obviously stole the prototype and escaped. Unfortunately, the only earthbender of our group was the Hammer. As she put it "There is no speed except ramming speed!" and I'm very sorry for any farmers in our way whose fields maybe didn't need to get plowed as thoroughly as they were.
Downside: As usual with Avatar games, having several players create their characters within the four hours of the time slot *and* think of an inciting incident leaves little time for actually playing. Plus the game bled players in a way I haven't seen before - in the end, it was just the MC, me and one player who preferred not to continue in a two-on-one. Before that, in reverse order, we had one player just not responding anymore (some kind of microphone trouble?), one player dropping due to a router dying and one player having to leave because, I kid you not, "something's just exploded in my street and our power is out."

Another second Saturday, another #MagpieGames Community Play Day. I played in a fun session of #UrbanShadows. My "Veteran" archetype was a Fae scion of the Summer Court who spent the last 50 years at a human college because he found out learning and college life are fun. He may also have supplied half the campus with... um... herbal remedies.
Over the course of the game, we investigated a murder and messed with one elder vampire on behalf of another elder vampire. Our characters worked together quite a bit more than the system usually intends, which definitely sped things up, but also made the web of debts we spent some time setting up feel a bit wasted, though sometimes worldbuilding feels like its own reward.Also, as it turns out video games are really helpful in supporting ttrpgs. The #SaintsRow Boss Factory (available for free on Epic) is increadibly awesome for creating character images for modern settings and #StrangeHorticulture made sure I had a sufficient amount of weird plants to distribute. During the Community Play Day of #MagpieGames, I played in an awesome game of #TheBetween where we investigated and finally exorcised the Saint James Street Ghost. Awesome first look into the game and the ways it facilitates creating a story, a setting and three-dimensional characters to inhabit them!
Also, maybe my Factotum was a little miffed at the insinuation that apart from strange occult purchases, the finances of a household could be considered boring.
