@flup @CoMaps @organicmaps Oh, I see. If real-time traffic data is particularly important to you, you should try #MagicEarth or #TomTom, since #NuNav doesn't seem to be available in the UK.
I don't use voice instructions when navigating, so I can't comment on that.

#MagicEarth jumped off a cliff and put every single feature behind a paywall now, and the new app barely works and lacks features the old app had
#CoMaps only finds streets, not addresses

ich kann noch #magicearth ins Rennen geben.
https://www.magicearth.com/Aktuell brauchen sie wohn noch ein wenig bugfixing-Zeit nach einem großen Update.
Aber es ist inuitiv bedienbar und findet Routen in nullkommanix.
OSMand ist das Schweizer Taschenmesser unter den navis. Gold wert beim Wandern. Aber es benötigt eine gute Einarbeitung, dazulässt sich eine Route nicht "mal eben kurz an der Ampel" eingeben.
Daher nehmen wir für's Auto Magic Earth. In der Nacht ist der HUD-Modus toll. Telefon an die Windschutzscheibe gelegt und man hat eine minimale Anzeige im Sichtfeld ohne zu blenden. Hammer.

ich benutze momentan #OrganicMaps als auto navigation und das ist super! bin sehr zufrieden.
vorher hatte ich #MagicEarth aber das kostet mittlerweile und ist buggy

J'ai un problème, peut-être que vous avez une solution : en voiture j'utilise souvent #MagicEarth (ancienne version) pour la navigation, et parfois je reçois ou j'émets un appel (notamment quand je cherche un accès/point de RDV).
Sauf que dans les deux cas la connexion de l'appel (controllé depuis les commandes au volant/l'écran de l'autoradio) affiche l'appli téléphone en plein écran et MASQUE mon guidage jusqu'à ce que je rechange d'appli à la main, ce qui est dangereux et frustrant. #Android -
@cryptgoat ha für die alte Version einfach fair 15€ im Jahr verlangen hätte bestimmt einige dazu bewegt zu zahlen.
Mir haben sie ja vor Jahren erzählt sie machen Navis für Einsatzkräfte und daher kommt die Finanzierung.

Ich war ja etwas schockiert, als ich gesehen habe, dass #MagicEarth inzwischen nur 1,4 Sterne im Play Store hat. Leider zurecht.
Ja, die App hatte dringend ein frisches UI nötig. Ich kann auch damit leben, dass nicht alle Features mehr kostenlos verfügbar sind – ich hatte mich eh schon immer gewundert, wie die sich finanzieren. Womit ich aber nicht leben kann:
- Ständige Crashes.
- Das UI rendert manchmal teilweise nicht, wenn eine Route gestartet wird.
- RAM-Verbrauch scheint astronomisch hoch, denn parallel laufende Apps wurden ständig gekillt.
- Das Rendering der Karte scheint mein Gerät komplett zu überfordern (Pixel 8a), teilweise komplettes Geruckel.
- Einfachste Bedienelemente funktionieren nicht richtig oder nicht zuverlässig (versucht mal im Navi-Modus die Leiste von oben nach unten zu ziehen zwecks Erweiterung).
- Die App zieht beim Navigieren so viel Strom, dass mein Pixel 8a nicht mehr auflädt, während es am Strom ist. :ugly:
Ich hätte irgendwann während der Fahrt am liebsten mein Gerät aus dem Fenster geworfen. Später gings dann von den #CLT2026 dann mit #CoMaps weiter.
Keine Ahnung, wie man so etwas derart verbocken kann. 🤦♂️ Vibecoding? Kein Geld mehr? Selbst schlicht gar nichts getestet? Aber so bringt man sicher niemanden, die nun doch deutlich erhöhten Abopreise zu zahlen. Schade, denn die Routenfindung ist ziemlich gut und berücksichtigte zumindest früher die Verkehrslage. 😐
Es braucht dringend gute Konkurrenz zu #GoogleMaps, speziell für gute Navigation.

Mea culpa, le mois dernier j'ai pris un virage à gauche illégal à une intersection parce que j'étais pas à l'aise avec le quartier et que #MagicEarth m'a indiqué ce chemin.
J'ai pris les précautions nécessaires pour le faire en sécurité, j'avais la visibilité, et j'ai pas pris de sens interdit.DU COUP
j'ai enregistré l'action avec ma dashcam pour avoir des images à jour de l'intersection et j'ai ajouté la restriction dans #OSM, comme ça à la prochaine mise à jour, ME ne routera plus par là. -

Die Firma hinter der NavigationsApp #herewego hat sich kürzlich mit #Amazon zusammengeschlossen, um deren KI in ihre Navi App zu integrieren. Das gleiche, oder ähnliches, könnte allerdings auch mit #MagicEarth irgendwann passieren.

I've had enough of #TomTom's outdated maps and uninstalled both TomTom Go Expert and (otherwise great) #Sygic. It's #MagicEarth for long-distance and potentially congested routes and #OsmAnd for rural/minor roads.

Hmm, #MagicEarth is now #freemium.
Not upgrading. Traffic-aware navigation is now under a paid tier. Not sure if it was traffic-aware before.
I liked the app because it was a nice middle ground between #CoMaps and GOOG maps.
Not hating on them for going freemium, though. They could have just done what everyone else does, and sold out their users' data.

I somewhat reluctantly installed paid version of #TomTom Go app on #Android (it was on discount, probably as TomTom are on the ropes) I've got a few long drives coming up and #OSM lacks warnings of the average speed cameras on #A12 in #Essex (alas, I have 0 idea how to accurately add them or if you could even get the data from #NationalHighways (presumably it is possible as TomTom has them)
It works fairly well (other than missing route bar on #AndroidAuto which TomTom and Google are struggling to fix) and does pick up my POIs from existing Tomtom cloud.
I'm not sure of the future of the company, they laid off loads of their staff (probably where #MagicEarth, also based in NL is getting their devs from) and their website and update servers barely work. #GNSS #satnav

I ditched #MagicEarth (which appears to be also losing features with the paid app!) for #OsmAnd Plus Pro.
Earlier in the year I got a Google Play gift card for my birthday. I don't play mobile games so it seemed worth getting, especially as its currently the same price as the paid #TomTom app)
the app (which I'd used before for recording #GPX tracks of long drives on a separate device) has way more features *and* an active #FOSS community with repos, issue tracker etc.
Speed monitoring and warnings work on #AndroidAuto (with more configurable options). The main feature it lacks is live traffic, but not that big a loss as there's 0 way of avoiding jams at peak time in my region anyway due to limited routes in and out of it!

ich hatte das zwar schon mal vor 15 Tage kommentiert, aber der Kommentar scheint nicht hier zu sein...#MagicEarth kann dich bei Überschreitung des Tempolimits und auch bei stationären oder mobilen Blitzern warnen.
#TomTom #AmiGo kann auch als Overlay laufen und warnt ebenso
#Tempomaster ist auch eine Möglichkeit.

Gestern habe ich meine neue NaviApp getestet. Ich will ja nicht nur von Microsoft weg sondern auch so weit es geht von Google.
Magic Earth ist wirklich super. Die Karten von Open Street Maps sind wirklich viel detaillierter. Besonders für Fußgänger*innen und Fahrradfahrer*innen. Bei mir sind in der näheren Umgebung schon drei Wege eingezeichnet, die Google mir gar nicht angezeigt hat. Darunter ein wunderschöner Fußweg zum Meer, den Ich ich erst vor ein paar Tagen entdeckt habe.
Beim Autofahren finde ich die Führung auch viel übersichtlicher, die Ansagen kommen früher und ich finde super, dass ich darauf hingewiesen werden, wenn ich zu schnell fahre. Nach Orten suchen, wo man die Adresse nicht hat funktioniert auch gut. Also Supermarkt, Theater o.ä.
Auf die Bewertungen von Orten kann ich auch verzichten. Diese ganze Bewerterei im Netz geht mir eh auf die Nerven. Oft sagt das nichts aus, weil vieles Absichtssache ist.
Die App ist wirklich übersichtlich. Und ich werde sie diesen Monat nochmal auf der Langstrecke testen.

I didn't know #OsmAnd was *that* popular. 🤪
#OsmAnd remains a favorite, but other interesting #OpenStreetMap data consumers are: #MagicEarth , #OrganicMaps.
There's also #OSMapp -- a web app, so there's nothing to install, -- but without any routing abilities.

J'ai voulu tester... woao Magic Earth marche même sur un vieux et lent Wiko sous Android 4.
Non seulement l'appli marche sans problème, mais même la navigation 3D est relativement fluide.
La navigation/zoom/manipulation de la carte est également agréablement fluide.
L'appli est donc bien optimisée, et donc (logiquement) économe en batterie.
