Started using a trackpad with my desktop setup (ironically, a Latitude E6540). Honestly never thought I'd see myself do this, but here we are.

My trackpad of choice is the Magic Trackpad, the battery powered one, not the rechargeable one.

Tak, dobrze czytacie — Apple wydało właśnie aktualizację do ich peryferiów i oryginalnych zasilaczy.

Firma niespodziewanie udostępniła nowe wersje firmware dla kilku akcesoriów, w tym Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad oraz wybranych zasilaczy USB-C.

BREAKING: Apple has just released MAJOR software updates for it's devices:

1. 140W USB-C Power Adapter Firmware – 1.4.84 (Up from 1.4.73)

2. Magic Keyboard (USB-C) Firmware – 3.1.9 (Up from 3.1.4)

Zmiany nie zostały opisane, ale prawdopodobnie poprawiają stabilność, kompatybilność i drobne błędy.

Aktualizacje instalują się automatycznie w tle, więc użytkownik nie musi nic robić – sprzęt zaktualizuje się podczas normalnego korzystania.

Does anyone know if #Apple's #MagicTrackpad, the latest Type-C version, works perfectly on #Linux?

The prior version, which has a Lightning port, does work perfectly on Linux out of the box - even when running on an LTS kernel.

You'd think just a change of port wouldn't affect its usability, and I'm not sure if that might actually be the case on Linux, but on Apple's own platforms at least - you're forced to update to the latest version of #macOS, #iOS, and #iPadOS for the trackpad to fully work, multi-touch/gestures and all.

Pretty tempted to sell off mine, the black edition, sometime just so I could replace it with the Type-C version (also in black).

I am currently in the second week of exclusively utilizing my Magic Trackpad instead of a mouse.

I have implemented several custom gestures in BetterTouchTool to enhance my productivity, and I can confidently say that I have no intention of reverting to a mouse in the future.

Apple właśnie wydało nowe oprogramowanie układowe dla swoich akcesoriów Magic Mouse i Magic Trackpad – jednak prawdopodobnie nie otrzymasz tej aktualizacji dla swoich urządzeń.

Jak zauważył użytkownik X/Twitter @aaronp613, Apple wydało w poniedziałek nowe oprogramowanie układowe dla swojej myszy Magic Mouse i gładzika Magic Trackpad. Nowy firmware to wersja 3.1.1. Aktualizacja tych akcesoriów jest jednak dość trudna – a nawet niemożliwa?

Chociaż macOS ma mechanizmy aktualizacji akcesoriów Apple, wielu użytkowników zauważyło przez lata, że ich urządzenia utknęły z oryginalnym fabrycznym oprogramowaniem układowym. Na przykład moja własna mysz Magic Mouse kupiona w 2020 roku nadal działa z oprogramowaniem układowym 1.9.2. Innymi słowy, nowe oprogramowanie układowe prawdopodobnie zostanie dostarczone z nowym sprzętem, a obecni właściciele nie otrzymają aktualizacji.

Nie ma również żadnych szczegółów na temat nowości w dzisiejszej aktualizacji firmware. Najprawdopodobniej naprawi ona tylko błędy i poprawi niezawodność akcesoriów.

Właściciele AirPods Pro 2. generacji otrzymają jesienią aktualizację oprogramowania układowego z nowymi funkcjami, w tym gestami do odbierania i odrzucania połączeń. Obecnie jest ona dostępna w wersji beta.

@serichards I can’t say that I’ve experienced that, or at least not often enough to notice it. I do find that the keyboard prefers to connect first, rather than the trackpad, so the space bar is my usual wake up method.

I guess they do wear out eventually. I forget how old mine is, but I’m going to guess about five years old.

I’m also using Sonoma, and I travel with the trackpad from time to time.

@msh @mathowie That being said, I'm in awe amidst #Apple's ability to f**k up designs so badly at the same time other stuff is just brilliant.

for example the #MagicTrackpad is super nice and has no notiveable #lag but then the #MagicMouse2 can't be charged whilst in use, has worse ergonomy, doesn't have replaceable batteries and lags so hard that it makes @fuchsiii ragequit with visible #lagging....

AFAIK both are #Bluetooth and both use the same Chips from Apple...

I got my very first warning about the keyboard battery probably 3 hours ago, and just now it completely died.
