And here it is! https://www.madisonbikes.org/events/bikeweek-2026/ Over 40 events already, and based on prior years, there will still be a lot more submissions.

In #madisonwi these introduced and invasive plants are considered ‘restricted’ by the Department of Natural Resources.
https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/Invasives/fact/TatarianHoneysuckle
Therefore, conservation #organizations may be incentivized to remove them and inhibit research.
I’ve also notified the city that these shrubs surround large piles of rocks. Therefore, their removal without gradual replacement of native species could alter geological #risks such as erosion and soil collapse due to Karst topology.
Questions remain…

I posted a waffle chart of impervious areas in #MadisonWI a while ago. Now it's a proper blog post with all the code to reproduce the chart (and an added table). https://haraldkliems.netlify.app/posts/2026-04-28-impermeable-areas-as-a-waffle-chart/

Crappy photo, great event: I was one of the presenters at a meeting about bike advocacy on the north side of #MadisonWI yesterday. Compared to other parts of the city, the north side's bike infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired, and it was great to see a room full of people interested in changing that! Shout-out to the owner of Cool Bikes North for organizing the event.

We had a stormy week in #MadisonWI. Friday was comparatively harmless, but I captured good timelapse video from my office window, including a rainbow: https://youtu.be/S4nKuAWR9dE

Side note: It's really awesome how many interesting events are available, more often than not for free, here in #MadisonWI. Actually I may go see another free movie tonight, at the UW-Madison Cinematheque.

That was a fun couple of hours! Pretty completely bracketed by severe weather, but none of it hit my area of the city.

A little nippy today in #MadisonWI.
Didn't feel like -196F, but maybe the spring sun made it feel warmer... -
