Continuing my research into vectorfields this version is a planar setup with ~50 force fields and ca. 2-3 million particles connected by strands.
The forces are cylindrical SDFs with random rotation directions

Genuary 2024 Day 26: "Grow a seed" - Smooth Re-Render
I created this animation during Genuary as a Midi-reactive version with sound. While I totally loved the movements depending on the incoming velocity, I also wondered how this would look as a smooth and fluent animation.
So I re-did it today, changed the look a bit and captured in higher quality.
This piece has an ethereal beauty I could watch for hours! :-)Enjoy!

To make it work “SampleTexture2D” was the key.
The other ingredient was, to make the colours very bright - as you can see, I multiply them by 10.
And finally what made it look like fire was to raise the temperature, so that the upward movement occurs naturally.
This is based on the “Fluid Introduction” patch if you want to have a go yourself.

I wanted to work with audio again, so this time the animation is driven by the velocity of the incoming Midi notes from #Bitwig, which are generated by a generative sequencer.

Each dimension of each cube is sending either a note pitch or a Midi CC which then drives some parameter in VCV.I'm finally getting into this beast.

On the FUSE chat, I was pointed towards the R&D folder of the FUSE repository on Github, which contains a working implementation of a Spatial Hash, a setup that enables fast lookup of what particles are nearby.

"In the style of Vera Molnár (1924-2023)."This was a hard day.
Nothing worked, VVVV and Skia showed themselves from their worst side and I hit many walls and bugs.
So the end result looks nothing like a full days work.After my initial ideas didn't fly, I went with this design, similar to one of Veras works.
It is very soothing, give it some time.

Generative colors, procedural colors, emergent colors.So I created a generative painter, selecting it's colours without using palettes, but by directly animating HSL values. This was a very interesting exercise and I'm especially happy about the painterly effect.
