@FreeCAD last week I started with a simple case mod for the Banana Pi R2.
Sadly, it turned out that the device has a very poor thermal design. Even with a passive heatsink and CPU governor set to ondemand instead of performance, it builds up heat until it performs an emergency shutdown.
So now, one week later, I end up with a more extensive case mod with active cooling:

@FreeCAD I made something simple today: custom sides for the Banana Pi R2 case.
More antennas more good, right?

Well gosh, it's #FreeCADFriday once again! What are you working on with #FreeCAD? #CAD #CAM #MadeWithFreeCAD

Hey! It's #FreeCADFriday! What are you working on in #FreeCAD? Hope everyone has had a good week. #CAD #MadeWithFreeCAD

Hey @FreeCAD!
I made a case for my phone. It has a compartment for a stash of emergency money or a couple of cards the size of a credit card.
The best feature for me, though, is the high-quality TPU material I used for printing, which is flexible, skin-friendly, and just feels nice in the hand!

I made another batch of stylus tips:
This time only the top is printed in conductive PLA, while the rest, including the thread, is in PLA+.This is a more stable solution and I got the feedback that it works much better. I cannot test it myself but it seems to be a viable solution.

Is there anyone out there with a #Framework12 and easy access to a 3D printer who would be willing to test the model before I release it publicly?
You would require a flexible filament (Shore hardness A98). Additionally, the bracket can either be made from sheet metal or printed from PETG or similar.

Hey @FreeCAD, happy weekend!
I made a VESA mount for my new Framework 12 notebook! 🙌

When I uploaded my models to Printables this week, I was dissatisfied with my old knob for IKEA KOPPANG dressers. I updated the model and released the FreeCAD file.
2024, I had swept along a number of sketches. The top had to be modeled separately using surfaces. A fillet made it harder to get the top diameter right.
The new model defines the complete shape in a single sketch and uses revolve to create the solid. -

Just blogged about this fabulous #rp2350 #opensource controller system that @steamengineers built in response to my little Tiny Opensource Underwater Vehicle (TOUV) project. It's amazing when people get excited about stuff you make, and then respond by making something excellent that makes the whole project better! The little palm sized TOUV submarine is featured in this months @rpimag issue ICYMI. #underwater #rov #madewithfreecad #kicad

A decade ago I was totally inspired by Barry from Dark Water Foundation who ran a supercool workshop at @lpoolmakefest where you could build a tiny little underwater #ROV with Lego. Just this week the synapses have fired to recreate it in a 3D printable version! Early testing is good! #3Dprint #MadeWithFreeCAD #mayke

I've finally managed to make an Exploded Assembly with FreeCAD. The grid is slower in the animation but it's a thing i don't want to think about.
If interested you can find the model here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1098547#profileId-1093472

My kids named my van the Millennium Falcon, so I felt it would be fun to label her with the name.
Slicers have gotten so good at customizing models that I designed these in @FreeCAD specifically to be easily customized using slicer primitives and is printable on smaller printers (~250mm beds)
Libre license, libre formats, share, modify, enjoy.

A lot of people have done versions of this tool, but none of them were right for my calipers or the magnets I had on hand.
And worse: None of them used an open CAD format that I could edit to correct that.
Here is my libre version of a radius tool for the end of your calipers, print, modify, enjoy: https://www.printables.com/model/1067982-caliper-radius-tool
(I'm counting this for #FreeCADFriday because I drew it yesterday, I just didn't print it until today)

On ST:TNG and many other scifi shows of the 80s/90s freezer spacers like this were frequently used as grates, mechanical texturing elements, or (as in this example) with light behind.
I've managed to put together a passable CAD model of this iconic bit of plastic. Download free in various formats (including an 1:12 scale STL file): https://mangledpixel.com/freezer_spacer.html

Today's project was a stand for a set of watchmaker's screwdrivers. I made two variations because I'm not sure exactly what height I prefer working at and I wanted to try both a low entry and a high entry option.
As I mentioned earlier, @FreeCAD 1.0RC1 was a delight today and made this super easy.
If you want one it's on printables: https://www.printables.com/model/1011931-watchmaker-screwdriver-stand

I've had this assembled for a week now, but you know, life…
I have a 20-foot telescopic pole that’s threaded on the end for various attachments. There isn’t a pruner made specifically for it, so I fired up #FreeCAD and designed an adapter that I could 3D print.
It took a few iterations on the threads to get a good fit. I also redesigned it with the smaller diameter offset for easier #3dprinting. My first version was concentric and required supports, which was annoying.
