I cracked the SE. The case is a little marred so someone has been in here before and there was one screw missing. But the battery has not leaked yet! Date on the hard drive is from 1988! Not to dusty inside either. Will blow it out and give it a quick power on to test it. #macSE #retrocomputing

I am way more excited about these now that I have them home, very glad I didn’t balk at what I thought was a high, but was actually a low price. My old SE, later upgraded to an SE/30, was really my first computer. Feels so good to have one again. These are supposed to both work. I will crack them open later today and check on the batteries. #MacSE #retrocomputing

I just posted the Apple IIe, but noted I prefer the SE—so here’s my Macquarium in one of my oldest digital photos from 2007. I followed long-lost instructions to discharge the monitor (expecting electrocution) and had glass cut to size for the tank. This thing was deeply impractical and no fish ever lived here, but I regret throwing it away!

It's all good though because now I have a backup floppy drive and a backup HDD and bits of the first SE that I know worked as replacement parts. The 2nd SE had a DOA CRT, the earthing strap wasn't connected, it's possible there are cracked solders on the analogue board, I haven't investigated that yet. #MacSE #DOA #WIP

OK retro situation as it stands: fixed the imac password issue and updated OS and software but still have to address filesharing but that's a samba issue. Waiting on a new protocol card for the USB4VC because the first one was DOA and then I will be able to drive my old macs, speaking of which I will probably build a FrankenSE out of the 3 I now have because the 2nd one I bought was *probably* DOA so I had to buy a THIRD which does work. #plus #MacSE #imac
