CW: Spider Photography
The spiders in our front garden are total idiots. They keep building webs on our wheelie bins. This one was a chunky fellow, so they are clearly getting a good diet out there (in direct sunlight!).

Just some random nature from along the trail this morning.

An evening curiosity.
This is a flea beetle in genus Psylliodes & as it was on dried brassica, best guess is P chrysocephala, the cabbage-stem flea beetle (🇩🇪 Großer Rapserdfloh).
They're usually dark green, but can come in brown too (var anglica), albeit mostly in the UK & very rarely in DE in iNat.

Bonus picture of a seven-spot ladybird or C-7 (Coccinella septempunctata; 🇩🇪 Siebenpunkt).
Very decidedly not rare, but prettily posed on the ivy by the front door today, where many arthropods are feasting on the flowers.

Spotted this tiny ~2mm leafhopper this afternoon with a pretty colour scheme.
Likely subgenus Neoaliturus, but a species ID would need a genital examination 🍆
The most "common" in DE (26 observations on iNat) is N fenestratus (🇩🇪 Trauerzirpe), but N guttulatus or v rare N albilacustris are possible.

Been getting more into macrophotography lately, and it's turned into a genuinely rewarding hobby. 📸
Question I keep coming back to: what's your take on using artificial light in macro work? Found this video really inspiring, worth a watch if you're into photography too.

Natural light only, or do you bring in artificial lighting too?

I’m in Darwin this week, meeting new people and critters on Larrakia country. This is a yellow-striped flutterer (Rhyothemis variegata), near Rapid Creek
