  1. Just submitted a feature request to Apple requesting that they allow removal or collapse of the "Recently Saved >" items in the Safari Sidebar.

They are too large in their current form, cannot be removed, or changed to text instead of giant icons.

  2. Last night I had the 2011 #macbook pro running #MacOSXsnowleopard side by side next to the 2013 macbook pro running #Monterey. It was crazy seeing how much has changed but also how much stayed the same.

I like the #QOL improvements that #Apple has made to their OS (not including #MacOS26Tahoe) but I do miss the older #skeuomorphic and stylings of the earlier #OSX; it just had more character.

  3. We’ve been in squircle jail before

I’m not using macOS 26 Tahoe yet – hopefully I’ll never have to; 🤞 the next version of macOS is less of a dumpster fire, and I’ll just skip Tahoe entirely.

But, looking over other people’s shoulders, and listening to the groans and cries, I’m struck by something. We’ve been here before. Icon jail, I mean (“Squircle” jail specifically in Tahoe’s case):

  4. Wow macOS 26 is buggy. Xcode + iOS simulator just destroyed my system while I was debugging UITraitCollection / Environment Overrides. I've seen some environment overrides crash the simulated app process multiple times—okay that might just be the app. But an environment override change caused the simulator to hang, then Xcode, then Terminal + git + vi, then Overcast (which dutifully kept playing audio) until I had to force shut-down. #macos26tahoe

  5. Anyone else see the window for the Music app on #macOS26Tahoe not remembering its position or size after quitting and restarting the app? It’s a ridiculous bug and is a really awful #UX.

100% reproducible for me on macOS 26.1. Anyone know if macOS 26.2 fixes it?

  6. So #macOS26 ruined the interface for Apple Music.

The player at the bottom is… awful.

You know it's bad when you consider writing a Music player app to replace/use instead of the one that comes with your OS.

  7. Is it possible to roll back a Version / Release on Mac? Tahoe 26.0.1 is bloody awful 😠 #macos26tahoe #Apple It's like stepping back in PC time FFS

  8. A few years ago I made the PC switch to #apple and bought a Mac, an older one, inexpensive as my first taster for photo management and, on the whole it's been a good move, I am NOT a fan of #Apple products but this has suited my needs perfectly so, I upgraded to a more recent model which was even better ........... until #macos26tahoe !!!! Have Apple taken a leaf out of the #Windows login manual? This latest upgrade has definitely been a step back and I am NOT impressed. Try telling #Apple that!

#datenschutz #macOS #macos26 #macos26tahoe

  10. Why dim the entire video when I mouse over it while playing it back? That’s so unnecessary and distracting.

  11. Since updating to macOS Tahoe, Firefox has been freezing a lot. Much of the time when I have opened Spotlight for something. Anyone have a sense of how to diagnose this?

UPDATE: Turns out this occurs if you have a loop in your bookmarks (e.g., I put the "All Bookmarks" folder in my bookmarks toolbar, which itself is under "All Bookmarks"), causing infinite recursion: bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.

  12. Avalonia gets ready for macOS Tahoe!

Avalonia is a very popular UI framework for .NET desktop applications that run on not only computers, but also phones and tablets. Avalonia is constantly improved to bring new features while ensuring that your Avalonia applications get enhanced performance across releases. macOS Tahoe brings the Liquid Glass design, along with new features for Macintosh users.

Now, Avalonia has just released a new version in the v11.x version series, and that is version 11.3.6. The following changes were made:

Out of all the above changes made to the Avalonia framework, two of them stands out for macOS support, because the macOS tray/menu icons scaling has been improved, ensuring that your applications look more awesome than before. Also, the SkiaSharp3 Metal interoperability signature has been changed, and Avalonia has been adapted to the new signature.

Both of those changes have made Avalonia ready for macOS Tahoe, as teased in a release post on Mastodon.

We are extremely grateful for their hard work at Avalonia for supporting macOS Tahoe.

To update your applications to support macOS Tahoe, update all your Avalonia NuGet packages to version 11.3.6 using either the package manager in your Visual Studio installation or the project files.

  13. So, I installed macOS 26 Tahoe in a VM in VirtualBuddy, and when I tried to create a Shortcut with an AI step, I was told Apple Intelligence was not available on this Mac. Say what now? It's a MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro and 32GB of RAM. 😠

Could this be a VM configuration issue? I only gave it access to 5 cores and 16GB of RAM.

EDIT: Apple Intelligence does not work at all in VMs.

  14. I think I am going to push the button on macOS Tahoe 26 beta… will I live to regret it 🤷
