The mysterious 13 million figure that people have been hyperventilating about for the machete bins has been clarified.
Turns out the machete bin contract was actually only for $925,000 for making and installing the bins, with the bins themselves costing $2400 each.
This is under the $3700 that the opposition mentioned they got quotes for.. but it seems the government was hesitant to clarify this as they were made by prison labour.
Still a massive comms messup from a not well executed government scheme.
