  1. Bittersweet ending.
I'll see the whole movie as soon as I can.

  2. Sadly, “Macario”s leading man Ignacio López Tarso passed away in March of this year at age 98. He acted in over 100 films beginning with 1954’s “La Desconocida”. He was left out of this year’s Oscar “In Memoriam” tribute

  3. Screw the $$ I’d take having a mariachi band sing a song about me any day.. but then again, unlike Macario, I don’t have a wife & multiple children

  4. I’m sure getting a supply of magical healing water from Death itself won’t have any negative effects on Macario’s life

  5. Nothing like sharing whole turkey with the personification of Death while sitting out in the woods

  6. Just gonna say what I’m sure we’re all thinking: Ignacio López Tarso (who plays Macario) has a major case of “Edgar” haircut (albeit a messy one)

  7. For those unfamiliar with Mexican films from this era (the tail end of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema AKA Época de Oro del Cine Mexicano) expect A LOT of symbolism and A LOT of melodrama

  8. “Macario” was directed by Roberto Gavaldón and was not just the first Mexican film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film but is also considered to be one of the greatest Mexican films ever made

  9. Also make sure to turn on the captions if you don’t know Spanish very well because today’s film is all in Spanish

  11. #RIP #IgnacioLópezTarso (1925–2023)

One of #Mexico's most renowned #film, #stage, and #TV #actors, López Tarso was seen in about 50 #movies.

    He won the #BestActor #Ariel (the #Mexican #Oscar) for ROSA BLANCA (1961, released in 1972) + a Lifetime Achievement Ariel in 2007.

Internationally, his best known #movie is probably #RobertoGavaldón's #Macario (1960), which was shortlisted for the Best Foreign Language Film #AcademyAward.
