Many of us in the College of Arts & Letters at Michigan State - including @kfitz, @schopie1, @BatsInLavender, @sharonmleon among many others - have been acting out of a concern about this very issue for some time. Part of my role involves travelling across Timor-Leste supporting implementation and training in diagnostic #microbiology. This is the first bacterial isolate cultured from a remote lab, grown from the urine sample of a septic patient.
The plate and sample will come back to the referral lab for confirmation of Enterococcus species and #antibiotic susceptibility testing.
