macOS 13 (Ventura) EOL for our projects

Generally, a macOS version is declared as out of support three years after the initial build. This has become a normal strategy to ensure that users keep using up-to-date hardware and software and to stay secure. This is because macOS updates usually bring in some new features, bug fixes, and security improvements.

Today, we are announcing a change to our support policy as we end support for running our projects on macOS 13 (Ventura) systems. Those include MacBooks and iMacs that use this version of the operating system. This means that there will be no more security and stability updates to this version, and users are encouraged to upgrade to the newer OS to stay secure.

We will end support of macOS 13 (Ventura) for our projects on July 1st, 2025. This means that we will no longer provide official support for this version. We are committed to providing quality services and applications, and we promise that we improve our projects gradually.

As a side note, we will remind users who are running our projects on One UI 5 to upgrade to One UI 6.x or higher to continue receiving support, as we’ll end support for the former version in the same abovementioned date.

If you want continued support, upgrade to the latest version of macOS available for your system.

Hat denn schon jemand #ios18 in Benutzung aber den Mac noch auf #macos12 oder #macos13 und funktioniert alles weiter (Zwischenablage teilen, AirPods weiterreichen, geöffnete Apps/Links am jeweils anderen Gerät vorschlagen etc)!

Finally allowed my 2018 #macmini to update to #macos14sonoma. Nothing #macOS13 couldn't do, but I hate the thought I'm years behind.

#Apple once took great pride in having a truly great user interface and user experience for #macOS.

If you are on #macOS13 #Ventura, better turn off your auto-updates. #Apple apparently considers #macOS14 #Sonoma an update and not an upgrade. I got it installed without agreeing. Now I’m angry; it was too soon, and I hope it’s a mistake. Never happened during my many years with Macs. It always waited for a click for upgrade.

Has anyone else seen Apple installer packages (.pkg files) failing to install on macOS Ventura and outputting a message in the install.log file about an error “while extracting files from the package?”

We’re seeing a small - but not insignificant number of these - while most people are able to install using exactly the same installer without any issues.

Let me tell you, it WILL beep.

And the reason is a sloppy and undocumented change made by #Apple in macOS 12, but they completely forgot to actually test and finish properly.

Took us almost a whole day to find and fix it. ARGH.

That is the kind of crap we have to deal with every year, for every new major macOS release.

Things that were stable and worked as documented for 30 years suddenly break. ARGH.
It is so frustrating.

So far, so good with #macos13 : of course @peternlewis 's KeyboardMaestro (https://www.keyboardmaestro.com/main/) is working perfectly; @bbedit also working without a hitch
