"Centenas de pessoas atingidas pelo rompimento da barragem da Vale, em Brumadinho, na Região Metropolitana de Belo Horizonte (RMBH), participaram, nesta terça-feira (21), de uma manifestação no centro de Belo Horizonte em defesa da manutenção do Novo Auxílio Emergencial.

Para o MAB, o parecer apresentado pela Procuradoria-Geral da República (PGR) ao STF representa uma ameaça ao benefício pago às famílias atingidas. O movimento sustenta que o Novo Auxílio Emergencial é um direito garantido pela Lei nº 14.755/2023 e que sua interrupção antes da reparação integral dos danos pode aprofundar a vulnerabilidade social de milhares de pessoas."

@macesari Interesting, to say the least. Fine, if geriatricians educate themselves about the neurological and pharmacological intricacies of AD (which begins maybe two decades before any symptoms), but very many memory patients meet a geriatrician way too late. I haven't met one thus far, and was a guinea-pig in aducanumab-research for 4 years (got it 10 mg/kg). From my own experience and what I have studied during the journey, I concur with the minimal clinical advantage and the heavy burden of monthly infusions. But it is quite another question, who should lead the patience care at MCI-level and before, where MAB's can still make a difference.

Members will take more strike action in higher education unless employer body UCEA agrees to return to negotiations.

The union's Higher Education Committee voted today for further strikes before the end of September, as well as to begin preparations for a new ballot in order to renew UCU's industrial mandate in the pay and working conditions dispute.

The marking boycott will also continue.

An emergency Higher Education Committee meeting has been requested which will decide UCU's response to the refusal of the employers' body, UCEA, to settle the ongoing pay and conditions dispute.

A date and timescales will be found which ensures branches and members can have their input.

UCU general secretary Jo Grady said 'UCEA have demonstrated unparalleled intransigence. We must come together and determine next steps.'
