This is 90 day supply of insulin for my new pump setup. How many vials would you guess this covers?

I actually don’t know this answer yet. I go pick it up later today.

The obvious joke would be 1 vial per month, so 3 vials. So almost $2.3k for 30mL of insulin.

Made the trip back to the pharmacy. One of the previous ladies was there. Apparently she's been out for a bit and is back now.

She agreed the Lyumjev prescription was not filled correctly. So she's going to help me out.

So I should be covered!

I was in a hurry to pick up my prescriptions. Tomorrow I will be going back to ask for an explanation how this is a 90 day supply of insulin.

On the bright side, I did also get Mounjaro 5mg. So there’s that. I think I’m going to wait on restarting it so I can build up some buffer supply.

Right after posting this, I got the prescription ready notification.

And CVS has now failed me in another way.

My doc updated my script to 20U per day. A box of pens is 1500U total. Not accounting for priming, that’s 75 days, right? Well, priming eats into some of that. So less than 75 days (probably closer to 70 days).

They gave me 1 box to cover 90 days.

Meh, I’m very low on Lyumjev and CVS is taking their sweet time refilling the script. Like, they have the insulin. I confirmed it earlier today. But it’s now late enough in the day that I’m concerned I’ll not be able to get it today.

I might run out by tomorrow.

Not a fan of the new people there. Don’t know what happened to the previous staff.

Running on the idea that ultra-rapid insulin uses irritants to induce faster absorption (fiasp uses niacinamide/B3, lyumjev uses aabc), I started slapping my lyumjev injection sites to see if that also helped.

So far, it seems to!

So yeah, if you're MDI and want to try this, give it a go! Inject, then slap!

Today was my first day using mealtime insulin away from home. It wasn’t a small carb day. I enjoyed time with my sister and my nephew.

I thought it would be more difficult.

Today’s TIR is 87% with 0% low.

I’m thankful for the community I’m in that has helped so many learn this, and that I watched and learned myself.

And in relation to prior mentioned issues with this sensor, it’s verified with finger stick. Because I wasn’t sure I got it this right.

My TIR has greatly improved since going on bolus #insulin. I'm still limiting myself but I'm also going outside my doc's prescription given the amount of insulin actually dispensed from the pharmacy.

I suspect if I completely adopt carb counting dosing my TIR will significantly improve further. So I plan to discuss skipping sliding scale with doc.

I've also managed to start dialing back my basal insulin. I'm suspecting my TDD won't be that high.

Cautiously optimistic I nailed my first use of rapid #insulin.

I might have to lower my #Tresiba dose. Which I was kinda thinking might be a possibility.

Keeping hyposnacks by the bed just in case. I should be reaching the end of the activity of the #Lyumjev though.

For a while, now, I’ve had trouble getting elevated #insulin activity from physical activity. Walks are regarded as a powerful tool to get your BG down. I assumed my resistance has been a problem.

With just 3U injected and walking the dogs, I had plenty of insulin activity. Which seems to indicate I really do have a production issue even if my c-peptide is in range.

I think the ratio is wrong, still. So we’ll see how this goes in the coming days.

I’ve taken my first actual mealtime bolus. Following my doc’s prescription of 3U for this meal, it’d be a 1:25 ratio. So we’ll see how it goes.

Finally got my #Lyumjev prescription. Was getting worried as the #CVS automated system was saying it would be ready sometime next week.

1 pen is supposed to be more than enough to get me through 90 days based on the doc’s prescription. However, once starting a pen, it should be done within 30 days, so realistically, at least 3 pens for the 90 days. But I got a box of 5 for 90 days.

So I can figure out my ratios within these bounds.
