  6. The amino acid #Lysine "exerts a partially inhibitory effect upon virus multiplication." The virus named in the study is the same that causes cold sores.

    This study suggests that eating foods higher in lysine (milk, eggs, fish) and avoiding foods higher in arginine (chocolate, peanuts, coconut, tree nuts) could reduce cold sore outbreaks.
