  1. Immunological #findings of West Caucasian #bat #virus in an accidental host biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/

In #hamsters, #WCBV was highly pathogenic, determining 100% #lethality and mild #encephalitis. In comparison with Duvenhage virus (DUVV) and #RABV, we found that WCBV displayed an intermediate ability to promote cellular antiviral response, produce pro-inflammatory #cytokines, recruit and activate #lymphocytes in the hamsters central nervous system.

  2. Question to anyone familar with #TransHealthcare #Hematology

    Is there a relationship between elevated #WBC (#neutrophils, #lymphocytes, #monocytes) & #Platelets, decreased #RBC, #Hemocrit, #Anemia, #Hgb, #mpv and #HRT for male to female #transgender individuals with no other evidence of blood disease, infection or #cancer?

#CTScans are clean, #BoneMarrowBiopsy clean. Doc wants to repeat however.

  3. “It’s difficult to think of a disease, injury or injection that doesn’t involve some kind of #immune #response,
and our finding really changes the way we could control this response,” said Professor Adrian Liston from the University’s Department of Pathology and the study’s corresponding author.

“We’ve uncovered new rules of the immune system.
This ‘unified healer army’ can do everything
    – repair injured muscle, make your fat cells respond better to insulin, regrow hair follicles.

To think that we could use it in such an enormous range of diseases is fantastic:
it’s got the potential to be used for almost everything.”

Lymphoid organs are integral parts of the immune system, responsible for producing #lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that includes T cells.

T cells begin life in the bone marrow and then move to the thymus, an organ in the upper mid-chest,
where they mature into specialized subsets, including #Tregs.

Once fully matured, T cells are exported to peripheral lymphatic tissues and organs like the spleen, tonsils, and lymph nodes
    (some move to the bloodstream).

It was thought that’s where Tregs stayed, on ‘standby’ until called upon by the immune system.

To test this, the researchers analyzed the Tregs present in 48 different tissues in mice, including lymphoid and non-lymphoid tissues and tissues associated with the gut.

They found them in all tissue types, suggesting that Tregs weren’t specialized cell populations confined to lymphoid tissues but moved around the body, executing repair functions in areas that need it.

“Now that we know these regulatory T cells are present everywhere in the body, in principle ⭐️we can start to make immune suppression and tissue regeneration treatments that are targeted against a single organ⭐️
    – a vast improvement on current treatments that are like hitting the body with a sledgehammer,” Liston said

  4. -- A lower frequency of circulating B #lymphocytes by mass cytometry (CyTOF) was observed in the multidomain #deficit cluster. Circulating #fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) was significantly elevated in the #mental/cognitive predominant and the multidomain clusters. Future efforts to link #PASC to acute anti-viral host responses may help to better target treatment and prevention of PASC.

  5. Raman spectroscopy of lymphocytes from patients with the Epstein-Barr virus infection.

  6. Recent work from University of Basel in Nature Communications looking into #Tcell #exhaustion, indicating a role for the SNX9 #gene. Knocking out this gene led to phenotypical and functional changes, e.g. Tmem differentiation, IFNg production, reduced #tumour growth, and improved survival in certain models.

  7. A research group at the University of Basel has identified a #gene that drives T #lymphocytes (#Tcell) to exhaustion. This finding opens up new approaches for more effective #immunotherapies.

  8. Linchpin of human immune system, T-lymphocytes actually come in a number of subpopulations. CD-4 cells are 'helper-inducer T-cells' that support the production of antibodies by B-lymphocytes. CD-8 cells are cytotoxic T-cells that directly kill microorganisms or cancer cells. Memory T cells are long-lived lymphocytes that can respond to foreign antigens encountered before, even over the entire lifetime of an individual. All of these cells are absolutely required to counter infections such as coronaviruses, measles + hundreds of other infectious diseases in particular. This photo is a colorized scanning electron micrograph of a T-lymphocyte. Not golden in real life but absolute gold in terms of our survival as a species. Good time of the year to give thanks. #lymphocytes #immunity

  9. Treating dangerous forms of cancer is seeing continued progress in the medical world, with highly lethal advanced melanoma being the target in this case.

Dutch scientists have found that treatments involving tumor infiltrating lymphocytes have shown a survivability increase of several months as compared to other methods.

An ongoing work in progress and not yet a cure, but a promising outcome.
