Hype for the Future 121J: The Pennsylvania Wilds
Introduction Along the northern edge of much of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, particularly northeast of Pittsburgh, numerous forested areas are largely influential in determining the cultural features and traits of the surrounding regions, including in the cases of Forest, Elk, and Cameron Counties. The Elk Country Visitor Center honors the natural features of the region, including surprise opportunities to actually see elk in real life. State Forests Most of the protected forest lands […]https://novatopflex.wordpress.com/2026/03/01/hype-for-the-future-112j-the-pennsylvania-wilds/

I wanted to counteract some of the increased weight at the front that building an areobatic plane requires for things like the aerobatic prop, inverted oil, and a smoke system. The Sky Dynamics Featherweight flywheel drops around three pounds compared to the Lycoming default. And it looks pretty cool too!

I've got to say, Aero Sport Products really goes out of their way on engine builds. I've had so many questions, changed from an IO-540 to an IO-390 to an AEIO-375, changed ignitions & fuel systems, and had questions along the way. I still haven't paid anything to them, but they're super helpful and put up with all my questions. I'm excited to support a company like this. #experimentalaircraft #vansaircraft #lycoming

@hopfgeist @corsac Rotax engines are superb! It is just so funny if you fly both, the old American Lycoming and Continentals as also the modern Rotax.
Because of the so different band of REV.

Auster AOP.6 This Auster was a post-war development of the wartime Lycoming-engined AOP.5 (AOP standing for Air Observation Post, outlining its role as an artillery observation platform). This example, seen at a fly-in, is finished as an aircraft of the RCAF, the Royal Canadian Air Force. The yellow scheme was intended to make it stand out against a snowy landscape in the event of a forced landing. The cartoon character painted on the nose (an example of 'nose art') is that of the dastardly 'Captain A.R.P. Reilly-Ffoull' of Arentwee Hall, from the British cartoon strip, 'Just Jake', drawn by Bernard Graddon and published in the Daily Mirror from 1938 to 1952. #Auster #AirObservationPost #AOP #DailyMirror #RCAF #RoyalCanadianAirForce #Lycoming #forcedlanding #aviation #flyin #noseart #cartoon #cartooncharacter #Reilly-Ffoull #JustJake #Canada #history #technology #flying #BernardGraddon #cartoonstrip #photography #aircraft #artillery #avgeek #aviationphotography #flight #newspaper
