#lutheransrestoringcreation — Public Fediverse posts

For the first time, I will be sharing my annual Christmas letter not only via US Postal mail, but now, here, on my Walking Thoughts blog. "Are the meek getting ready? Everything in our day suggests that..." I hope you might consider reading it. https://hpaulsantmire.net/christmas-2024-the-meek-are-getting-ready/

My daughter has gathered quotes from colleagues and friends about my life's work. I have agreed, with some resistance, to share these generous comments more widely. They are also posted on my website. I will use this post as the thread to share them. #ELCA #Aging #LutheransRestoringCreation https://hpaulsantmire.net/finis-and-telos-my-just-out-earth-book-in-the-age-of-trump/

Entering into my 90th year — I will be 89 at the end of this month — I'm pleased to share that my final book has been published. "The Earth and the Fullness Thereof: A Down-home Reader in Ecological Theology"

New post on my blog, Walking Thoughts: "Amerika?"
"In what respect, if at all or perhaps thoroughly, is America today becoming Amerika? My understanding of that word is my own, although Franz Kafka’s now famous use of it is in the back of my mind...The absurdity of it all! Is Amerika a word, perhaps the word, for our times?"

"Why I wrote EcoActivist Testament," a >2 minute video. In this video you will see this octogenarian (me) worshiping with nature at our old farmhouse in the western mountains of Maine.

If you are a faith-driven #ecoactivist, I wrote this for you. If you are sometimes on the verge of despair, wondering "why bother!?" I wrote this for you.

Originally I wrote this as a Lenten reflection, and then I found myself sick with COVID before I could post it. I am well recovered and have posted on my Walking Thoughts blog about my experience with the Trinity Prayer: https://hpaulsantmire.net/praying-all-the-time/

There is a new episode of my conversation series, "Let's Talk!" available; I talked last summer with Prof Kiara Jorgenson of St. Olaf College. We discuss the expanding lives of students, intersectional justice, place-based vocation, panentheism, and more: https://youtu.be/-0SZnD3AWJ8

Last summer, my daughter made a >2 minute video of me explaining why I wrote my latest (last!) #book, EcoActivist Testament. This was before we were on #mastodon, so we didn't share it here. It features a typical day for me in the #mountains of western #Maine. I would be honored if you checked it out: https://youtu.be/VSeK0XqdtGc

Lutherans Restoring Creation is a grassroots movement promoting care for creation in the #EvangelicalLutheranChurchInAmerica (#ELCA). Some of you might be interested in these lectionary commentaries using the #RevisedCommonLectionary that "explore ways an eco-theological interpretation may be an integral part of a theologically sound, exegetically based, understanding of scripture and well-known Bible verses."

Is #Theologidons a hashtag folks are using? I found a list of #theologians on #mastodon that used that word.
