September 10th.
Recently I was out with my gravel bike in the Lusatian Lakeland (“Lausitzer Seenland”) and also made a detour to the Welzow-Süd lignite opencast mine. Here it was possible to take a shot of one of the two large bucket chain excavators (Es 3750) directly from above.
Both excavators remove the overburden above the lignite. The removed material is then used with a conveyor bridge (F60) behind the exploited layer of lignite to backfill the mining pit.

Fascinating #folklore project: a #map of #folk tunes gathered by Oskar Kolberg, great ethnographer of 19th century, to listen and download. Mostly territories of Commonwealth of Both Nations (that is, today's #Poland, #Lithuania, #Belarus and #Ukraine), but also #Lusatia, #Slovakia, #Slovenia, #Croatia, #BosniaHerzegovina and #Serbia. Sadly, not linked to lyrics, music only, but still a delightful journey.
As Kolberg worked in 19th century, his works obviously do not contain recordings, but the map gives #MIDI, #MusicXML and #EsAC.

After a week of upper respiratory tract infection I'm finally able to hike again: #SOTA DM/SX-025 Valtenberg (#WWFF DLFF-1156) is not far away and easy to activate. Unfortunately the lookout tower is still closed, so #VHF and #UHF were tricky with the #HT. While I was activating, my wife discovered that from 1954 to 1959 there was a #GDR police transmitter on the summit. #HamRadio #SummitsOnTheAir #Amateurfunk #qrp #elecraftkx2 #morsecode #hiking #mountains #Saxony #Lusatia #20m #40m #15m

Und auf dem Friedhof freuen sie sich wie kleine Kinder, weil sie auf jedem zweiten Grabstein Namen lesen, die sie aus ihren Stammbäumen kennen. #lusatia #łužica #lausitz
