#lurking — Public Fediverse posts

I'm interested in the psychology of lurking in online spaces. I'm a lurker. Always have been. I mean, check my post history - I'm here all the time, but rarely contribute within the communities I value.

I don't behave like this IRL. I'm sociable, amiable, happy to engage with people, confident that my voice has value in social contexts. (A privilege I don't take for granted.)

I think maybe I'm confident of my voice online. But just don't... use it. I don't know why.

Now then,
That is how Mastodon can work in our favour. We are not being directed along a line of #thinking by the usual culprits But
Finding our own direction and choices.
It is why #lurking, #following and #boosting will define what we experience and we are the 'masters of our own interests'.

I like to be aware of the many kinds of #kindness. The #experiences of people I would never meet but rarely. I like a #diversity. A mixed tableaux. Weaving backwards and forwards through lives lived at #different times and in #alternative ways.

While being mostly offline, or at least non-posting much in the blue skies for a while, I like the idea of me being actively practicing a lifestyle I already had mastered in the past, namely #lurking as a lifestyle.
