You know, I buy this reaction, straight off! Trying to support her head instead of hugging her makes sense, if you are considerate but have had zero instructions in romance or intimacy.

This is the third episode straight I've been staring at that chest behind Baili Hongyi.
*inhales*
I don't need another chest. I _don't_ need another DIY project! _I don't need another chest!!!_

The L-shaped duvets* looks a bit different in China I see...
(*Special Hollywood duvets that covers the chests of women while simultaneously allows their male bed companions to show off their muscular torsos.)
(Edit to stave off confusion: according to historical records people _were_ this awkward early in their marriage - no shade on the couple!)

Braid! _Please_, a braid! You'll get hair _everywhere_ even if you lie stiff as rakes!

The director and/or the set designer of this production really _really_ loves mess! Mr Unsightly's den must be a favourite opportunity!
(Yes, I do know how to take a real screenshot - it's just that it's usually faster to snap a still using my mobile.)

Lady Wu Siyue often wears patterns that _feels_ very modern, like the wave print on her vest here, but I would'nt bet my hat that it is. Usually when I do I stumble over documentation that proves the pattern to be the oldest and most authentic one in the production. Unfortunately the Tiffany problem doesn't go away when you exchange Western fantasy for wuxia

Ouch! That was a kick in the gut I didn't expect! Thirty plus years ago I was so poor I basically ate every other day to make ends meet. Not for a long period (a few months), but apparently it stuck, because - yes - the everyday grey way to handle it is to drink water to feel less hungry.

Note the medallions on his shirt. The historically correct way to weave such a pattern is to put them evenly spaced horisontally and vertically. His medallions are overlapping and in disarray, and so far he's been the _only_ character with this exeption.
Also: this production was _loaded_! That's not printed, that's an actual brocade!
(Sorry for the bad quality pic - for reasons this is the last chance I get to take a non-spoiler photo.)

These two actresses haven't had much to work with so far, but they do The Most of it.
Pic1: caught talking about the husband behind his back - by the husband (not mean words, just private ones)
Pic2: the gift is not for her
Also: girl, hit him over the head with the box* - he needs a clearer message than a quiet sigh!
(*I'm not sure she can Talk To Him - sometimes those things don't work, for a number of reasons)

Looks like someone in production noticed the drama is almost completely void of clours, and shoved yellow flowers in the arms of an extra.

Everything about this set is awesome! The indoor moat with floating lotus lanterns, the mechanical table spitting secret messages (that blurry spot to the left), and the buddha made out of hanging chrystals. Not a fan of making surveillance look cool (this is the center for that), but the set designer _really_ deserves All The Prices.
Also, I wonder if I can build something like this into my house? A little moatling perhaps?

It may seem like "duh!", but for someone who grew up with Hollywood's inability to follow through on their own research C-drama is a relief! People read the books the right way, the artwork is based on Chinese art, and characters and texts are actually legible. It's rarely 100% historically correct, but people know their stuff and how to bend it for coolness.
(Would C-dramaland be better at Viking Age epics? See toot below.)

Lol! Props to the actor for producing the perfect 'where do I start to explain to my clearly autistic master that his young newlywedded wife can't accompany us to a friggin' _brothel_?' look!
Have I seen something similar? Yes. Did I notice? About two weeks later, yes.

*snrk!* Close to me stands a hotel saddled with bad luck. It's one of three built when analysis showed there was room for _one_ in the area. The business tanked. Later a Chinese businessman fell in love with it and remodelled it into a mini China. Unfortunately he stomped the toes of local authorities, and then dropped the project. Now several companies have tried to revive it. The latest one's called Sisyfos (Sisyphus).
The name of the hotel? Dragon Gate.

Someone with a big wallet: How many extras do you want?
Production: Yes
(Luoyang is shaping up to be the 'clobber on lotsa extras large scale epic views' and I'm pretty happy with that.)

The fight: *continues to be awesome - lots of interesting camera angles and fast cuts*
Me, on the verge of tears: Please! Not so fast! Let me take reference pics for my warm-up exercises!!!(I literally stepped forward frame by frame to get this one.)

Gao Bingzhu just grabbed a random great axe on the deck? The fight is ott awesome, but this irks me. I've sailed on a school ship roughly that size, and the basic gear of a Western cutter can't be that far from a junk! We did _not_ use axes as part of our training. Why on earth keep zombie fighting gear here?

The nuances are lost in translation (the guards are actually _ordering_ him to stop running), but the effect is the same. It's not like Gao Bingzhu willingly will return to the interrogation chamber. Yet, regardless of if it's "freeze!" or "bie pao!" - police will always try this weird trick. They never learn, do they?

The servant girl is actually plump! Probably unlikely but I'd love to see more of that. And I love the printed pattern on her shawl!

It's interesting that White Cat Legend, that was a fairly cheap production, still beats larger ones in my watchlist visually. But Luoyang comes close! Those dusty lightbeams really are top knotch!

I love when production do something extra with their resources! The large crowd could easily just have been a background, but here it also enhances the storytelling. A baddy is getting chased along the street, and people fall (are pushed) into the canal making a nautilus wave pattern as the camera follows chase.
