  1. Lucio Fulci's The Black Cat from 1981 is actually quite interesting. Fulci is the kind of guy who you either really vibe with or not. I largely do, and I definitely did while watching this adaptation of the famous Poe story.

  3. Lucio Fulci is kind of a jack of all trades. He can make giallo. He can make westerns. He can make some pretty great zombie horror flicks. He also made a banger of a mature thriller with The Devil's Honey.

  5. Zombie 3 was started by Lucio Fulci but ended up finished by Bruno Mattei and Claudio Fragasso. That might sound like a step down, but I'm also going to guess one of those two jokers that took over came up with the flying zombie head launching from a freezer, and, for that, I salute them.

  7. 1979's Zombie is my personal favorite Lucio Fulci flick. For as gross as it is (you know what scene I'm talking about), I could watch the movie over and over without growing tired of it.

  8. I know it has its cult following but Demonia by Lucio Fulci lacks in so many areas for me. There is one cool scene with a guy getting ripped in half, but otherwise, I think it's kind of lame.

  12. The final entry of Lucio Fulci's The Gates of Hell trilogy is The House by the Cemetery. It's the one that the fewest people stick up for as their favorite compared to the guts-barfing City of the Living Dead or the really moody The Beyond. Still... S'alright.

  13. The middle chapter of Lucio Fulci's Gates of Hell trilogy is probably the best. 1981's The Beyond has striking visuals and great atmosphere.

  14. Lucio Fulci and writer Dardano Sacchetti got inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and made 1980's City of the Living Dead. It's also the first of Fulci's The Gates of Hell trilogy. However, this one is so Italian it ends on a massive question mark. Still... It's pretty effective.

  15. 1988's Aenigma is a mostly interesting Italian spookfest. In fact, it's one of the more likable Lucio Fulci films from the later part of his career. At least from my perspective.

  16. An absolute all-timer of a giallo, even among by Lucio Fulci standards. My ★★★★ review of Don't Torture a Duckling (1972) on Letterboxd: boxd.it/8C2h0H #GialloJanuary #Giallo #Horror #LucioFulci #Letterboxd

  17. Lucio Fulci's The Black Cat is likely his best film, but it isn't quite as recognizable as, say, Zombie or his Gates of Hell trilogy. Still, it's a very interesting horror film.

  19. This will upset Fulci fans but I really disliked his 1972 giallo Don’t Torture a Duckling (1972). And in general I'm a major Fulci fan. The right ingredients and a fine cast. Florinda Bolkan is excellent. It just didn't come together for me.

  20. In The Black Cat (1981) Lucio Fulci takes Poe's story as a starting point and then builds a new story. Two young lovers have vanished. A crazy professor (played by Patrick Magee!) talks to the dead. He has a psychic link to his cat. Great movie.

  21. Starring George Hilton and Franco Nero, Massacre Time deserves to be considered among the best of Italian westerns. And this fella, Nino Castelnuovo, steals every one of his scenes—with an unhinged performance that is both intense and unsettling in equal measure. Regia di Lucio Fulci, Massacre Time is also a change of pace from the Adriano Celentano musicals and Franco and Ciccio comedies that defined his early career. Fab!
