From time to time I'll have a #luciddream that while rare, will always stick with me.
They go between being absolutely horrifying when I realize it's a dream during what was already a nightmare, or very strange as I get absolutely no control. I'm simply aware how strange everything is.
In the nightmare I'll try to wake myself up and fail. In the more relaxed dream I'll "wake up" into a regular dream after a few moments and lose my lucidity.
Brains are weird.

#Dream I was a character in a future novel, witnessing, and analyzing my actions. Semi- #lucidDreaming The character had a dream and entered another realm of existance as a big fluffy titmouse. It squeezed through a partially open window to escape an unnamed terror. Since I was witnessing I only felt interest in what I was seeing and marveled at have fluff and realistic the scene was. #dreamjournal #luciddream
Some of this will be in my next novel. It fits very well with the narrative flow of that work. #writingcommunity #Takiyasha

I was just stuck in an unpleasant lucid dream. I couldn't wake up no matter how many times I pinched myself. I was almost sure I'd wake up if I killed myself, but I couldn't rule out the possibility I was just awake and delusional. Finally one of my relatives appeared, much younger than I've ever seen them, which convinced me it was safe to jump off a railing.

It started out as a regular dream, but as soon as I realized I was dreaming last night I decided I would compliment every dream character I could find.
The mall security guard seemed surprised and slightly suspicious of the fact that I had noticed her, but everyone else loved their compliments. I woke up in a good mood.
Aren’t dreams funny things?

So many cool references in this article. The Matrix, Inception, Dream Scenario, Minority Report, the psychedelic cults of California... If only we had a simple category label to tie all these things together. 🤔
As is clearly the case with #cyberpunk, one has to remember that every cool piece of #dreampunk tech is bound to be used against us by our capitalist overlords, but it may still have value if treated with due caution. And that includes psychoactive chemicals, which were (and I assume continue to be) a major part of government-funded mind control but also fueled the countercultural revolution of the 1960s.

I think my brain is trying to prevent me from having lucid dreams.
Generally, it's been the case that when I go lucid (often by noticing that I'm able to fly and telling myself that that only happens in dreams), I wake up right away. But lately, I've been "waking up" into another layer of dreaming, which has the effect of removing the lucidity I've just gained.
This happened last night, but also I wasn't *quite* flying, so that didn't trigger the lucidity this time. I was jumping and drifting, caught in updrafts with autumn leaves, which I described as "almost flying." The thing is, that was all so enjoyable and beautiful that I told myself, "This is too nice. I must be dreaming," which brought me to the next level of the dream. Same setting essentially, but now the area I was in was smaller and indoors.
I'm onto you, dreamself. I see your tricks. 🤔

In a dream, I suspected I was dreaming, so I pinched myself. It hurt. Then I asked someone what year it was, and they said "1608." And then I knew!
