Latest read, Angel's Laundromat (1981) by Lucia Berlin, from A Manual for Cleaning Women. The writer recalls her casual friendship with an old Apache man at a New Mexican laundromat, their uncommon honesty and humor toward each other.
Berlin showed an awareness for the significance of 'the small things'-- I surmise it is these people who most often enjoy life.
