My grandmother saved S&H Green Stamps back in the day, and I remember my mother having books of Blue-Chip Stamps. These were loyalty programs used by participating stores. You could save up enough stamps and trade them in for various items. There was a catalog of things you could get with enough stamps. I don't recall either my grandmother or mother trading any in, but I wouldn't necessarily know, would I? As for myself, decades ago, I remember being able to get a volume of an encyclopedia for shopping at a grocery store. It was a points-based program, and over time, I managed to get all but one volume, though I don't remember the exact rules of the program.
