  1. Didn’t have time to do much today but I did have time for this because fire block also makes everything better ^_^

  2. now i just need the next cable boxes to get here and we’re in good shape

  3. RE: mastodon.murkworks.net/@moira/

picking up where I left off…

I was thinking of strapping this in but honestly I don’t think I see a need for it, it’s pretty dang sturdy

  4. once I had confirmed I had things in right places I figured out I could put the conduit and boxes in a better location so that’s happening

also marked out the interior floor height ^_^

  5. People who think that low-voltage DC is always completely harmless should be invited to watch a foot-long 5/8" wrench do an impression of an incandescent light bulb when dropped across the terminals of a traction battery.

  6. I love setting up low voltage garden lighting. Apart from the hassle of running cable, connections, moisture and drilling a hole to connect to the transformer inside, it is kind of like putting Lego together. The light on the fence in the background is running of a battery with a solar panel to charge it. The bms includes a variable time delay in hours past sunset, so no tweaking required from season to season. #lowvoltage #garden #solar

  7. The lights in our house have all been flickering now for over 24 hours. Calls to the power company have been largely ineffective in getting any here to help. There’s a loud buzz at a nearby pole that seems plausible as the problem. We’re stuck with variable voltage and flickering lights for now. Oh and I had to shut off our UPS that powers out internet and file server because it kept cycling from house power to battery power. #poweroutage #utilities #electrical #lowvoltage

  8. Because of scaffolding I now have 2 "spare" #solar panels which could t go on the roof. I'm considering mounting them in the garden and setting up a #lowvoltage lighting rig.
    Anybody any experience of this?

  9. Updated the light setup in the kids room today 😎 8 channel #EspHome powered An-Deca controller, I had laying around + warm white FOB LED strip + a 4 channel zigbee button for several brightness presets and on/off toggle. Everything connected through #HomeAssistant. It works perfectly👌 I only need to print a proper enclosure for the controller 😁

  13. A look inside the trailer's electrical cabinet, where my wiring is perfectly neat and tidy. This leads to a panel giving me two anderson connectors, 2 USB connectors, and 2 'auto accessory' (cigarette lighter) connectors. Also, some LED strip lights on each side gives me a bit of light to see what I'm doing at night.

  14. A few years ago I saw a video where somebody was talking about how we have so many low-voltage DC devices in the present day that it might be time to get rid of the complex circuitry inside every wall charger and LED bulb, and start having low-voltage DC mains a standard thing. I still think about that sometimes.

  15. Here's a thought.

With the exception of some large appliances in homes that require motors, like the fridge, washing machine, dryer, etc, a large part of my home could be easily run on DC. In fact, it mostly is, except it's based on little power supplies all over the house, replication to the point of absurdity. Why not wire new homes for DC? What do we actually need 120 volts AC for, typically? #DC #lowvoltage
