James Ramsay, Anglican priest and ship’s surgeon, objects to the slave trade. Besides the objections in inhumanity (he has cataloged in other sections), it makes no economic sense to beat and starve and then expect productivity out of a group of people. This “pushing method” defeated its purpose.

How can you avoid “this pushing method” in home, school, work, and church?

Madison Clinton Peters, pastor in NYC, writes on people in the slums. Needing to beg puts people at risk of a cycle of prison and “unhappy careers”. Peters doesn’t excuse the crimes, but warns “a Christian public” of judgment by God for their neglect.

Don’t we hear different judgment today, one directed at those who talk too much of poverty, or “excuse” crimes by pointing to conditions? How can you help those in desperation?

I am immune suppressed, unable to make antibodies from vaccines, always masking & sitting outdoors. An isolated life.

An unmasked person coughed near me two weeks ago, & I developed pneumonia. In recovery, but slow.

When I see people who mask, I see love in action.

Love is a verb.
