size constrained #ansi #ansiart for the #Lovebyte 2025 online #demoparty , the comp rules were no more that 256 'pixels' which in ansi worked out at 16x16 blocks. I placed 17th out of 24, which wasn't great, but the competition was fierce :) its called 'Strawb'

The theme was "Blind date" and all prods were shown anonymously, but now that the party is over, I'm allowed to post about it 😉

There will be an online Jam with three anonymous ZX Spectrum Jammers joining at Lovebyte 2025.
The event will last about an hour, offering a unique, nostalgic experience. The participants will be using Bazematic, a browser-based ZX Spectrum live-coding environment.
The anonymity of the jammers adds an element of mystery, allowing the focus to be purely on the creativity and skill displayed.

Demoparty
On the weekend of 15-16 February 2025, the virtual demoparty "Lovebyte" will take place on Discord and Twitch - an event dedicated entirely to so-called sizecoding, i.e. programming with as few bytes as possible. Under this year's motto "Blind Date", all competition entries will be presented anonymously so that the works can be experienced independently of their creators.

TIC-80 is a free and open-source fantasy video game console originally made for making, playing, and sharing games on a limited platform that mimics the 8-bit systems of the 1980s.

The space mission MAIUS-2 I wrote firmware for since 2019 launched in November 2023, and I am now open for new paid projects! My favourites are #Assembler, #Forth and #Verilog on #FPGA. I am the author of #Mecrisp, a family of optimising Forth compilers (Mecrisp-Ice went to space!), did processor design with @BrunoLevy01 (#FemtoRV Gracilis) and I love #sizecoding challenges (Byte-Athlon Champion in #Lovebyte 2023). Formally, I am Dr. rer. nat. in biophysics with experience in laser spectroscopy.

I was just checking out the #lovebyte 2024 videos at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLr4JCYhdWe8kgQZafF0dLHfpQO-W1gF4E
and discovered that my bytebeat music entry was somehow played at 44kHz instead of 8kHz, so it was playing 5.5x too fast, which probably explains why it came in last place in the competition... So now I don't feel quite as bad.
