#CDramas that everyone adored but I just couldn't get past the first few episodes:
- #TheUntamed (just couldn't get past episode 1)
- #LoveBetweenFairyandDevil (I thought the acting was subpar, even the ML's where everyone said was great)
- #HiddenLove (I found the whole premise really boring 😆)

I am not sure what it is with me, but the shows that get the most vibe and buzz tends to turn me off lol

Am the same with #KDramas. Don't get me started with #EternalMonarch...

The genuine confusion you feel when almost the entire world loves #LoveBetweenFairyandDevil and you detest it to the depths of your very being. 😆 🙃
But that's par the course for me - I tend to dislike very popular dramas. Disliked Ashes of Love too. Two things are deal breakers for me: An infantile female lead & terrible acting.
When you have both together, well, that show doesn't stand a chance with me lol.

I am on episode 2 of #LoveBetweenFairyAndDevil and I am like... Why is this rated so highly??? Omg the lead actress can't act to save her life, and worse she has this squeaky anime voice that I detest.

Even though the #loveBetweenFairyandDevil spawned so much praise earlier in the year, I couldn't really get into it, and I think some of it has to do with the way Chinese God stories (XianXia?) are produced in Live action.

I think that I will like the story better animated, especially since things, like the main character saying she was a plant, can be illustrated instead of just mentioned.

Anyway, I might try watching the animated version.

Subtility doesn't seem to be in the c-drama rule book, but there are differences between shows. Now when I _finally_ managed to access 'Love Between Fairy And Devil' again, I realise it's on the "subtle is a kitchen tool, right?" end of the scale.

I need to learn to not procrastinating watching "Love Between Fairy and Devil"! I do so because I have an overactive cringe reflex and need a gigantic skämskudde* for the body swapping episodes. Netflix yanked the show while I composed myself, and now Viki has flagged that it needs a channel manager and locked it for viewing. Gaaah!

(*Skämskudde - "pillow of shame" - the pillow you hide behind when experiencing secondary cringe while watching a show)

I watched it out of order because I don't usually like God / Devil shows because it feels like there are no stakes when they are immortal.

But, listening to commentary, I realized what difference this has.
1. Egalitarian Romance
First he is powerful, then she is.
2. Dom/Sub romance
One is always more powerful ;)
3. Character development - BIG changes
4. Unfeeling to feeling path
5. Atypical plot choices
6. Spectacular entrances
7. Kisses, lots!
8. Not long

I watched this show out of order, and wasn't much into the genre, so I didn't think much of it at first, but when I heard that the real strength of the show was character development and change, I realized that I needed to go back and watch it from the beginning.

I have been binging Love Between Fairy and Devil on Netflix and it would play beautifully in Hearts of Wulin. And now I really want to. Not the exact story, obviously—but maybe a part that we haven’t seen, like what exactly IS the Arbiter doing, or the war before Lady Chidi died? Anyway, it’s so pretty and I can’t stop watching it.
