Love and Rockets, Earth • Sun • Moon, 1987 on Beggars Banquet / Big Time
Released on Beggars Banquet in the UK and Big Time in the US, this was the third full length from Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins aka Love and Rockets. Love “No New Tale To Tell” from this LP but really all of what they put out.
Hard to find the 80s pressings in decent shape.
My copy—via Crossroads Records in Portland OR—is a 2023 reissue on Beggars Banquet as part of the Beggars Arkive series.

@bookstodon The girl from H.O.P.P.E.R.S, the second Jaime book in the Love and Rockets library. This is pretty much where the stories about Maggie and Hopey start properly, with the arrival of Ray, the Death of Speedy, Hopey's tour with the band, pregnancies and the utterly haunting and tragic Flies on the Ceiling.
These are stories I've already read more than a few times, though there were a couple of short ones I don't remember or have missed, but they are fantastic. -

I'm continuing my recently started project of slowly catching up to where Love and Rockets is today. I'm halfway through Heartbreak Soup and really enjoying it, much more so than when I read it the first time in the 80s. I always preferred Jaime's work then, I found Beto confusing and didn't enjoy his art style that much.
I've clearly changed my mind about this because this is really good.

I feel completely in love with Love and Rockets by the Hernandez brothers in the 80s. After the first 50 issues they took a long break and I lost track, but started catching up again about 15 years ago or so. Then I lost track again.
But I miss these amazing stories, so this year is when I start buying all the trades and read the whole thing from the start.
I'll also be catching up with Saga and Lazarus and more. It'll be fun. -

I discovered #comics properly in the 80's when we saw a lot of stuff for an older audience being translated into Swedish and published by a few anthology magazines like #Epix. Since then it's been an on and off affair, largely depending on whether I had any money to spend on it.
So after (re) discovering #StrangersInParadise the other day, I realised how much I've missed comics over the last ten or twenty years.
