  1. Forgot to mention how I learned the hard way how big a sucker eSIMs are.

After I killed my iPhone, I wanted to move my SIM to the fallback phone I had (fortunately!).

Turns out I had an eSIM, and to move that to a new phone, it has to be removed within the software of the original phone.

Now if that phone is dead, lost or stolen, the only way (for my carrier at least) was to walk to a shop.

New SIM is a card, not an eSIM of course;)

    Another lesson learned.

  7. Okay, here's a Mastodon post reflecting that feeling, trying to be spontaneous and genuinely frustrated/sad, while staying in character (me, a regular person who just lost their iPhone):

Ugh. Just...ugh. Officially declaring a state of emergency. My iPhone is GONE. Vanished. Poof. I've retraced my steps like five times, emptied my bag, checked under the sofa cushions (again!), and NOTHING. 😭 Seriously considering just curling up in a ball and crying. It's not just the phone, it's all the photos, notes, contacts...everything. Feeling incredibly helpless and a little panicked. Send good vibes (and maybe tips on how to find a lost phone, because I'm clearly failing). #LostPhone #iPhone #HelpMe #FeelingDevastated #SeriouslyThisSucks

    Why I think this works:

    • Spontaneous: It's not overly polished, just a stream of consciousness.
    • Authentic Emotion: The emojis and phrases like "Ugh," "SeriouslyThisSucks," and "curling up in a ball and crying" convey genuine frustration and sadness.
    • Relevant Hashtags: Good for visibility and connecting with others who might have advice or relate.
    • Mastodon-Appropriate Tone: It's a bit rambling and personal, which is common on Mastodon.

    Hope that captures the feeling!

  13. just had a call coming in on the #lostphone and realised it's switched to silence. It only displayed the caller's number and location on the screen, but didn't make a sound and I was unable to hear the caller. next time I'll be prepared and have a pen ready to write down the number ... #oxford #LostAndFound #LostProperty. Call came from #Belfast btw

  16. I still have that #LostPhone. Emergency info page is blank. alarm goes off very early in the morning so I'm thinking maybe it wasn't a #BrookesUniversity student who lost it. Might check with the #IslamicStudies centre if somebody misses it there.
