Oblivion Song – Chapter Two | Comic Review
It’s always nice when you find a “part two” that you like more than the first part, and that’s what happened with me and Oblivion Song – Chapter Two. Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo de Felici knocked this one out of the park.
When I read the first book, it took me a while to really dig in to wanting to continue reading. The story is something that should have been 100% up my alley, but something about it was holding me back. I couldn’t figure out what it was, but the ending hooked me. I was excited to check out the next book.
Oblivion Song – Chapter Two continues the story of scientist Nathan Cole and what happened with Oblivion. We learn how Oblivion came to be, and Nathan’s role in it.
One of my favorite narratives in this story is of Nathan’s brother Edward and his desiring to go back to Oblivion. He has no interest in being back in the real world and spends the book trying to both get back to Oblivion and convince his brother that he should support his decisions. It’s a fantastic story of brothers who care for each other but desire dramatically different things in life.
The art from De Felici and colors from Annalisa Leoni really help make this story. Everything feels so lived in, dirty, and grungy. It makes sense when you see the monsters from Oblivion. They fit the story.
I’ll be picking up Chapter Three at some point in the near future, and you should do the same.
