@jsiehler cosh π₯ and sinh π₯ have the same right to exist as cos π₯ and sin π₯ because they all together appear in the matrix representation of a four-dimensional Lorentz transformation. The hyperbolic functions describe the acceleration in the same way as the ordinary trigonometric functions describe a rotation.
By the way, are there other βnaturalβ uses of the hyperbolic functions?
