An update on nesting season for #WoodDuck #AixSponsa #WODU and #HoodedMerganser #LophodytesCucullatus #HOME at Huntley Meadows Park: 4 boxes have hatched out; 5 boxes have clutches that are incubating. Box #7 (pictured) hatched and fledged an estimated 13 #HOME ducklings, leaving 1 egg unhatched.

For 2024, our nest boxes at Huntley Meadows Park fledged 2 clutches of #HoodedMerganser #LophodytesCucullatus and 9 clutches of #WoodDuck #AixSponsa. We lost one clutch to predation by Black Ratsnake.
