We've had a couple of rehearsals for the Easterley gig (that's Emily Eastwood and me singing unaccompanied folk songs in harmony) at Nether Edge Folk Club in Sheffield on the 28th of this month.
Good news: We still know all the songs
News: After months of not singing because of extensive dental work, my singing stamina isn't what it should be. I need more practice! So tomorrow night, I will *definitely* be streaming folk songs on YouTube. Just me and #LoopyPro, as per usual.
The #TOTP pop picker aparters will just have to do without me.

If you're remotely interested in live looping, then you want to watch out for #LoopyPro 2.0. It's mindbogglingly capable. It's note quite all singing and dancing yet, and there's a few functions from things like the EDP and the GlouGlou Loupé pedals that I can't be coerced into doing, but it leaves pretty much everything else in the dust.
Unless you just want to take a single box and some cables to your local open mic, that is. There's a lot to be said for integration :)

I use #LoopyPro for my #folkSong streams and the most recent push for development has been adding MIDI loops to version 2. Frankly, I hadn't really cared because I don't play any MIDI instruments. Then today, while I was working on a new setup, I realised that I can use those MIDI loops and oneshots to "play" Loopy Pro and… oh boy, the things that lets me do!
Right now I'm making a layout that lets Loopy emulate the Ed Sheeran Loopers Looper X board it's making the job almost easy.

It's been a while, but I definitely plan on streaming #folkSongs on YouTube tonight from 8pm UK time. I'll be singing unaccompanied folk songs with the help of #LoopyPro for harmonies. Why not drop by?

ok, in experimenting with #loopyPro on #ipad to make #guitar music, today #RockDrumMachine worked really well to get a good rock drum as a basis for a song.
Nice progress here. I want to record my own song on Ipad, hopefully with a graphical app -
It's been a while, but I'm back singing #folkSongs with #LoopyPro on YouTube again tonight from 8pm UK time. Why not drop by?

Twenty minutes until I'm streaming #FolkSongs and mucking about with #LoopyPro

Streaming is go tonight. No guests, just me and #LoopyPro, singing #FolkSongs and chatting about stuff.

Emily and I have just had a first quick go at using #LoopyPro to let us layer up chorus harmonies and, oh boy! If that first rough take's anything to go by, Easterley is going to sound really good once we get properly tight.
I mean, we sound good already, without loops, but the loop at the end of of five verses sounds really tasty. Just have to get our 't's in the same place each time :)

Folk have been asking for the details of how I use #LoopyPro to sing #folkSongs with myself, so in this week's Friday night stream, I plan to spend more time explaining how it all works and answering technical questions between singing songs about love, sex, death and drinking. If that appeals to you, why not stop by?

My setup at the folk electronica session at #sheffieldseshfest. Amazing what you can do with an iPhone these days. #LoopyPro is amazing, I tell you.

So… Ed Sheeran (and his production guys, and Headrush) have finally released a commercial version of the Looper he uses on stage. It looks to be built like a tank and is reassuringly expensive. I don't want one, but I got nerdsniped by it and have spent the last day and a half trying to implement Ed's workflow in #LoopyPro. I'm currently in the "the remaining 10% that takes the remaining 90% of the time" phase.
It so very nearly works. Going to put it down for a bit now.

Interested in how I use #LoopyPro to sing #shanties and #folkSongs? Drop by my stream from 1.30pm where I'll be walking through the process of configuring Loopy to support just that. Hopefully a good deal of what I do will be applicable to whatever you want to make Loopy do too.

No #TotP snark ftom me this week as I'll be streaming #FolkSongs with the aid of #loopyPro on YouTube from 8pm.

Spent most of the day reshooting and editing a video on automating and randomising panning in #LoopyPro, so of course I plan to spend a couple of hours this evening showing it all off by singing #FolkSongs in harmony with myself. Why not pop by?
Wear headphones for the full effect :)

In fiddling about with #LoopyPro and #MiRack news, I've managed to tweak things so my overdub panning starts of with panning hard left, hard right, mid left, mid right and then randomly until I hit reset.
I'm wondering now if I can have the random stuff go pick a random number, pan that far left, then that far right, then pick a new random number and start again. I mean… I probably can with a bit more fiddling, but do I *want* to?

On Wednesday, I went over to the Wirral for a chat with John Paul about how I used #LoopyPro and one thing that piqued everyone's interest was the way I add each overdub at a different point in the stereo field, so I wrote a blog post (actually, I drafted a video script, then turned it into a blog post) about it https://bofh.org.uk/2024/01/13/panning-overdubs-in-loopy-pro/
You can find the chat with JP at https://www.youtube.com/live/uaP4np4WoAY?si=zPoXvCthRjsDUKEn if you're interested. We talk about more than just messing with panning.

A short stream tonight I think, as I seem to have picked up a gummy nose, but I'm not going to let that stop me. I'll be joined next week by Graham & Becca Leathers, #filk singers from the US, but it's just me and #LoopyPro singing #folkSongs this week. Why not join us from 8pm UK time?

I just want to make my loop pedal slightly more tolerant of my timing, and now I'm abusing a stepped dial widget as a kind of state machine by making one widget nudge the dial up and down by 1 step, and the second one nudge it by two steps, so, by the magic of binary, I uniquely cover all four possible state combinations with my four step dial.
It's not grotesque hackery if it's the only way to achieve a thing. That's called elegant problem solving!

My latest Make Noise Easel video adds a looper to take the Easel to the next level. Things get kind of ... #kosmische. (But also quite noisy 😅 )
