Rijksambtenaren gaan op 14 april opnieuw staken omdat ze dit jaar geen salarisverhoging en inflatiecorrectie krijgen. De stakingsdag is landelijk met bijeenkomsten in onder meer Groningen, Utrecht, Apeldoorn, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Amsterdam en Maastricht.

Had a half hour to kill while waiting for the wine shop to open to pick up my order so I popped over to the Bay shoreline to see if I could find any cool birds. Saw a non-breeding red-throated loon sitting in the mud. That’s as cool as I got.

Vacation Day 1: we stopped to stretch our legs in Barry's Bay and found a distressed loon. It had fishing line wrapped all around its beak and neck and the line extended into the lake dozens of metres. We cut the bird free, gathered and discarded the line and drove 2 hours the wrong direction to get to the nearest wildlife centre. They got the rest of the line out of its beak, throat and stomach and the bird should pass the tiny fragment of hook without issue. We're driving the poor loon back to its lake.

If you fish, PLEASE don't throw fishing line away. It can kill birds.

My final Canadian 🇨🇦 province #linocut is my home #province #Ontario along with its symbols, the common #loon and trillium. The block was inked 'à la poupée' (with different colours, black, green and yellow, in different areas) and printed by hand on lovely Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.
