If you are building or operating a #LLM based solution, did you price in continuous #reTraining and #QualityAssurance for every time you‘ll have to change the model you are using in your operating cost / #OpEx?
This is not just necessary, when you want to improve your product. Your supplier could deprecate the model you are using any time. I haven’t seen #longTermSupport versions of #ChatBot models yet. -

But a much older 2010 MacBook or 2013 iPad, still can.
And that's with default built-ins, before we get to strategies like replacing IE/Safari with Firefox ESR (which can even enable Windows XP to browse the modern web), or replacing Google Android with PostmarketOS.

@tayledras @noiq Also I think that a lot of these have diminshing returns because once you can snapshot instanty, backup, restore, transfer and duplicate a VM you basically abstracted everything that's worth abstracting.
And I seriously doubt that things like #OSv really bring any advantage to the table, as they are a #VM-only OS and not like a #Linux distro with solid #LongTermSupport or something else that makes it worth the effort...

I was surprised and heartened to see so many grateful and positive comments below a post from the #Blender foundation deprecating an “LTS” release after its two year support life cycle ended. My unscientific working defn of how long the “long” in #longtermsupport entails was much more generous than two years!
