  1. #LongQTSyndrome (#LQTS) is a pacing condition that can cause an irregular heart beat that, in extreme situations, can cause your heart’s chambers to beat out of order, causing a Cardiac Arrest. Simply put, it can kill you.

  2. "One in ten people discover that they have long QT syndrome after they suffer a cardiac arrest and die."

    :catthinking:

Hmm.... okay. I guess death is no longer the impediment it used to be.

  3. CW: Medical frustrations, Long QT syndrome.

It is so embarrassing having to sit down in the store because my blood pressure is too low. I mean, it’s better than having a cardiac arrest due to #LongQTSyndrome but… #betablockers suck.

I’m also dealing with #dehydration caused by a #stomachbug that, because of the aforementioned LQTS, means I can’t take anything for it. So… plenty of bathroom stops and lots of fluids. :(.

    Luckily, we’re nearly done here.

  4. CW: Health

It’s weird that every night I take these two little pills that literally save my life (although they also make working out less fun because they act like speed limits for my heart).

Thank you, science. I was born one year after this drug was invented…and because of it, I hope to live for many more years. #nadolol #longqtsyndrome #lqts

Oh, and get this, thanks to science we also know that my family appears to have an as yet unconfirmed genetic variant that’s maybe causing our LQTS. Neat!

  5. @stavvers as someone who both loves coffee* and has #longqtsyndrome #lqts, I am already getting heart palpitations reading this. In fact, I’m pretty sure it would kill me. We once had someone ask for an 8-shot coffee.**

*my cardiologist is aware and while he’d rather I don’t have lots of caffeine we have an agreement about one coffee a day, made at home.

**yes, I once too worked at a Starbucks while at college, 20 years ago. It was in the square mile of London.
