Picked it up again and my old/beater/hack/“touring” bike is so much nicer to ride! Maybe I’ll wait less than 13 years before having it serviced again, rather than bodging things along when absolutely necessary and otherwise ignoring it… as I said, it’s surprising there wasn’t more wrong with it!

Great service from my local bike shop, I’m taking them my Dutch bike next week.

Picked it up again and my old/beater/hack/“touring” bike is so much nicer to ride! Maybe I’ll wait less than 13 years before having it serviced again, rather than bodging things along when absolutely necessary and otherwise ignoring it… as I said, it’s surprising there wasn’t more wrong with it!

When I got my Tern, I didn't think that my panniers fit, so I took them back to my #LocalBikeShop, and they showed me how to open the brackets a bit wider to go on. No trouble after that.
Generally, knee rehab includes cycling because it strengthens the surrounding muscles. Of course, you should stop if an injury is exacerbated.
Biking is SO awesome for mental health! Glad you're getting out there.

Yesterday's trip to the #LocalBikeShop was made under brilliant blue skies. Today was very foggy and frosty weather, with frazil pans getting larger on the river.

Make good friends with the most convenient and helpful #LocalBikeShop in your area and don't be shy about asking them what seem like silly questions. Also, pay them to do anything you don't know how to do. I've been riding bicycles for most of my 67 years and I have never learned to change a flat tire. Shops are happy to take our money for these things. Get them to sell you the correct pump for the tires you have. You're learning a new and useful skill.

My point is that #LocalBikeShop is critical #bicycleinfrastructure, worth funding in our communities, like for support & maintenance most of us need sometimes.

@J_aa_p I had a similar story last year, #wattwagons for their “supercharged” belt-driven (single) Hound with a 3kWh battery pack. It took months of hounding them about my order to get it delivered. I was honestly disappointed by the quality of some parts and the build, but dealing with it by being my own mechanic… and never mail ordering an e-bike again.

SO happy to live in a bike-friendly neighbourhood where there's a #LocalBikeShop in every direction! I got my summer tires swapped out for winter tires today. $42 CAD while I waited. I've decided that bike maintenance is NOT a skill I intend to learn or buy equipment for in this lifetime! Kudos to those who learn the skills and do the things.

I've been reunited with my stolen bike! The chain and the handlebars were a bit wonky but my #LocalBikeShop fixed that up for me. The thieves had scribbled over my name and phone number that I'd written on the frame. I'm super happy to have it back. Still waiting for the dealership to have my window in stock to repair my vehicle.

Hooray for the #LocalBikeShop! And also, for not wasting too much of your energy on trying to solve an unsolvable problem! My bike shop and the local cops just collaborated to return my bike to me even though I recorded the serial number incorrectly when I added it to @bikeindex

Oh, I've done an enormous amount of biking and have only tried changing tires, with a LOT of help, once or twice. Cultivate a good relationship with a #LocalBikeShop and they'll help you take care of lots of stuff! I inflated tires yesterday for the first time in months. Timing can be tricky when using the pump. When you push the pin a bit, it deflates the tire but pushing it down fully will allow you to inflate the tire. #BikeTooter
