Was gathering some info for a friend who wanted to do an easy, child-friendly but "real" mountain hike with the family. Have mentioned it before, but my absolute favorite is the hike to the Lobhornhütte. The hike is good for kids (and adults too!) as it is not too steep, long and has different characters. Playing at the stream and lake is of course a big bonus.
Wanted to check when the hut opens this year and found this just stunning picture on their website, taken last year by Hon Wing Liu when there were lots of opportunities to see the northern lights in Switzerland.
The answer was: they open May 5th 😉

Mandatory picture when visiting the Lobhornhütte. You must be quick if you gotta go, as it is raining hard.

Again a wonderful hike up to the Lobhornhütte, one of the first huts in the year to open for hikers (because of the modest elevation). Some minimal leftover snow. Turkish exchange student did well. Weather forecast was on point. If it stays that way, we should have a super sunrise. 🤞

Tomorrow, after a year, we will return to this fantastic spot. If the view will be the same remains to be seen. The weather for Sunday morning currently looks good, so fingers crossed.
This still is one of my favorite pictures that I ever made.

First overnight stay of the year. Last night about 5 cm of fresh snow fell, making our hike up very quiet and beautiful. Only ones in the hut. Our Thai exchange student likes it sofar. Season has started well 👌
