#AmyRemeikis says is all. #Labor polies need a jolt to wake them up and read the room.
“The view from Amy
The main takeaway from the mainstream on the Newspoll is that Labor is at a 10-year low – that it hasn’t been this unpopular (as a government) since Julia Gillard’s government. Which, yes. But also what is happening is that the Coalition is at 18%. It is also at historical lows, it’s vote continues to crater and One Nation is the beneficiary of that.I spent the five week break talking to more politicians than anyone ever needs to and I am unhappy to report, that most of Labor’s backbenchers still believe that Albanese’s incrementalism is what is going to get them over the line. The main view is that the electorate will “see sense” once it gets closer to an actual election. Almost all of them point to this time in the last election cycle when Dutton’s Coalition was ahead and say ‘see, and then we got a historic majority’.
What they are not looking at, is what happened in the US a few years ago, where fear of the status quo, was, as Richard Denniss and Emma Shortis have said multiple times, greater than the fear of Donald Trump.
It’s not even necessarily One Nation that people want – it’s a change. Labor doesn’t seem to have grasped that. The Coalition certainly haven’t. This is unchartered waters and they are trying to apply the old way of doing things. It is not going to work. Whether or not they work that out in time is questionable.”

The Feds might as well take their proposed #AILegislation, wipe their collective back sides and flush it down the toilet for all the good it will do:
“The proposed rules for large data centres will build on a set of non-binding "expectations" released by the government earlier this year.’ (Source ABC News)
Let’s not talk about the energy supply #Firmers (euphamism for #GasTurbine) also mentioned in the draft legislation. It will pass the Lower House (#Labor and #LNP with #PHON both of the later will prob want #Nuclear energy production added to the mix), but I damn well hope the Upper House will shoot it down.
We’re governed by a bunch of bought-off morons.
#NonBinding legislation? WTF?

Aside from drawing a line in the sand on the #Corruption issue (a good thing), the new #Labor premier of Victoria has made the same lazy declarations that are made by #Clueless govts all over Australia:
“Carroll is also pledging to be more pro-business and tougher on crime.”
Business support and Tough on Crime, we’ve only been spared the BS on Immigration… and this is supposed to be a #Labor govt? So the rot has spread from #AlboPM ‘s federal #NeoLiberalism to #Victoria (It’s been ensconced in #NSW for years; alive and blundering along in #QLD).
Goodness me folks, are we going to re-elect these dimwits to govt? Or are we really going to take the fight up to the major parties by voting anyone else but #labor and #LNP ? Nor, if I need to mention it, #PHON — we’re not THAT desperate.
Who’s with me on this?

Wishful thinking, or hopeful oucomes? Maybe credible outcomes no matter the stupidity of an electorate…
“One Nation will never be able to turn resentment into a credible policy – and if the Coalition continues following it deeper into an imported culture war – both will end up withering on the vine for a long time to come.”

“Greens call for pause on data centres until mandatory standards are in place
By Holly TregenzaThe Greens say the government should impose an indefinite pause on any data centre developments until mandatory regulatory rules are in effect.
Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young has called AI "the new extractive industry" and says without the right regulation, big tech companies will take Australia's resources "and leave Australians with nothing to show for it".
"It is essential that we get the rules right. To do that, we need a pause on the approval and construction of new hyperscale data centres while we do this important policy work," she says.
"Just because big tech companies want to move at hyperspeed, doesn't mean that we need to fast-track and roll out the red carpet for them." (Source ABCNews Live)
Given that the #LNP and #PHON are unlikely to support the #AILegislation when it hits the floor in Parliament, this is a great opportunity for the #Greens and #IND to get that legislation right as well as the political coin that comes with that.

What a bunch of hypocrites (#Labor #LNP parties)… let’s all be anti-nuclear wars but bugger the non proliferation treay (#NPT) we’ve committed to if there’s a commercial deal to be made. There’s a reason why #India is not an NFT signatory and it’s not because it doesn’t like #Inspections of nuclear facilities. It has to do with #Pakistan (also no a signatory) and the nuclear threat it represents. And even if it is likely that India will abide by its commitment, it just frees up the uranium they get from other sources from non-weapons programmes to be diverted to military use. So, yes, one way or another, #Australia will contribute to weaponised uranium in India. Well done ! Bunch of #NeoLiberal lapdogs. No doubt the #MiningSector Lobby (and #Gina?) has the govt’s ear.

Talking about #Privatisation for a moment, here is a stark reality check about the whole #StateCapture fraud:
“In Australia, detention centres are run by private companies and the cost to house someone in immigration detention averages $505,176 annually. This is extraordinary, given the cost of housing a prisoner in prison is approximately $160,600 annually.” (Source: The Conversation)

There’s nothing like holding up a mirror to society, and #CathyWilcox does a better job of it than most cartoonists IMO.
Love this one — as scary as it is. Tbf, not all Australians are that bloody stupid but there are more than enough who are to cause me real concern here. We need a couple of #AntiGina #millionaires to splash some cash into public campaigns to wake voters up to the mess we’re in and how to get out of it.
