I remember that I had to add a repository to #lmde6 in order to get a kernel which supports the WLAN chip in my #lenovo laptop.
The current line for the #linuxmint part of #lmde7 in /etc/apt/official-package-repositories.list
contains:

deb https://mirror.init7.net/linuxmint gigi main upstream import backport

Could the large number of updates be a result of that line, e.g., "backport" or "upstream" ?
I didn't check the contents prior to the update to #lmde7 .

Noticed today after the upgrade from #lmde6 to #lmde7
#lmde7 does not automatically mount ext4 (and ext2 and ext3) filesystems. The issue was reported

but closed because of the new udev rules from #trixie (debian 13) on which #lmde7 is based.
I'll remove the rule from udev and see what happens. I guess it will work as reportedly other (virusfree?🤔) filesystems like exfat, fat32 etc. will be automatically mounted. No, it is not just the settings in #nemo
Of course, virtualbox was removed during the upgrade and the kernel was downgraded from 6.12 to 6.1 prior to the real upgrade and later installed, again.
I had to use the 6.12 kernel version for support of my #wlan chipset.

As a distribution I am currently testing Linux Mint, Debian Like, or in other words: LMDE 6. Yes, it runs much faster than Debian 12 on my laptop. Not everything works as it should so far, but when my new hard disk arrives on Saturday, we'll see.

What a pity😯
I can't use #virtualbox on #lmde6 .
The error message is very helpful as most error messages it seems.
According to the inspected search results (with resolved status) there are a lot of possible errors detected which result in the same message:

I can't run any from my i7 exported VM, at all.
They run on my Intel i7 laptop without problems (nvidia/nouveau) but not on my #lenovo Ryzen 7 (8 cores, 16 GB) with AMD graphics.

I have to replace my #linuxmint 22.1 broken laptop by a new one and use #uefi vs. legacy boot environment. I have a current backup of the root and home filesystems using #fsarchiver of the old laptop. On the new one I installed #lmde6 in uefi mode with a root and home partition. My plan is to
restore the old filesystems on the new laptop, change the devices (names and UUIDs) in /etc/fstab and simply reboot.
Will that work or am I missing something?
Do I have to update the grub configuration as well?

A question for #linux experts..I have a USB stick, which served as a live USB for #LMDe, but after that I've formatted it and now I have a few movies there...but in Linux Mint they are correctly shown, in #raspberrypi3 I use for my TV, it still shows #lmde6 live USB..how's that possible?
Please, advise how to remedy this situation.

Yesterday I installed Linux ( #LMDE6 ) on my desktop for the first time in years. I took the time to install Steam and turn Proton on.

I played for hours to the point I forgot I was not on Windows.

@libreoffice is there, @zenbrowser is there, @signalapp, @Tutanota is there...

At least for me, and, once more in my life, thanks to #GabeN, this will most probably be the year of Linux on desktop.

For those wondering, I went with LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) for my old iMac. Other than some issues getting audio working (got it working this morning), everything went without a hitch. Still not sure what distro I’m going to toss on the old laptop yet.. might end up going through a few.

I second Linux Mint. After running the 2014 version of Ubuntu for 10 years, I tried a few and now use Linux Mint Debian Edition (#LMDE6). It's not perfect, but still pretty good.

(My pet peeve is that I want old-fashioned scrollbars. I found a work-around but it's not pretty.)

Finished up the down-grade about an hour ago. And everything seems like it is working the way it should. I'm not getting the "weird" audio I was sometimes getting with #LMDE6
I uninstalled a bunch of the programs that I will never need on this old machine, which I didn't do before. I was just hoping to free up some resources. I don't know if I did or not.

A while ago I upgraded my old #netbook running #op25 from #LMDE5 to #LMDE6 - I had to recompile OP25 and a couple of other small things to get it working.
But it has never worked as well as it did with LMDE5, so today I've decided to wipe the whole thing, and start over with LMDE5
I don't really need it connected to the internet, but was thinking about setting up streaming. I think it might be too slow do that correctly.

I put off a few of those "upgrade" notifications.

A few months ago, I migrated from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (yes, a 10-year-old version) to Linux Mint Debian Edition 6 ( #LMDE6 ).

So far, I don't mind it, and I don't miss Ubuntu.

Linux bilgisayarda oynayacak ikinci Steam oyunumu da buldum.

Aslında çok var da hepsi her zaman oynanacak oyunlar değil. Bana canım istediği zaman girip oynayabileceğim oyun lazım.

Children Of Morta aynı Mount&Blade: Warband gibi Linux'ta kolayca çalışabilen bir oyun çıktı.

Üstelik eski oyun kaydımı buluttan kendiliğinden eklenmiş halde hazır buldum.

İçinden Windows 10'u tamamen sildiğim masaüstü bilgisayarıma kurduğum Debian sürümü (Ubuntu tabanlı değil) 64bit LMDE6'ya;

MicroPython için Thonny,
PyGame ile Python çalıştırmak için PyCharm,
ve bu gün de Arduino IDE'yi kurdum.

Henüz yeni kurdum ve kart takmadım.

Şifrede numara yazdığımda numarayı yazmayıp, imleci en başa alıyor ve kalanları başa yazıyormuş!

Tuhaf olan bir şekilde her seferinde giriş yaparken sorun yaşamıyordum da program yüklerken şifre istediğinde çalışmıyordu!

Neyse sorunu çözdüğüme sevindim. LMDE6 ile bir ilgisi yokmuş!

OBS Studio da yükledim. O da çalışıyor.

Bu arada Raspberry Pi 5 muhafaza kutum ve diğer aparatları az önce kargo ile geldi.

Program kurarken şifremi kabul etmeyip kimlik doğrulama hatası vermesinin sebebini anladım, ama bu sefer de bu güne kadar Windows'ta bu hatayı almamış olmama şaşırdım!

Eski Klavyemin Num Lock ışığı bozuldu yanmıyor. Dün geceden beri yeni işletim sistemi kurduğum için klavye de sıfırlanıyor.

Rasbian İşletim Sistemi (Raspberry Pi OS) şimdiki Masaüstü Ortamına PIXEL ile 2016'da geçmiş.

One machine done, no problems (That machine is running #Mate and I've already seen some bugs that were in 21.0-21.3 fixed)

I'm working on upgrading a #Cinnamon machine, I've noticed a few packages are a bit different, I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that.

I also upgraded a really old machine from #LMDE5 to #LMDE6 that didn't go quite as well, but was easy enough to fix.

Despite being the most visited on #distrowatch , I was not impressed with #mxlinux .
I will continue with #fedorakde for a while, and if I am not content, I will go back to #lmde6 with a few KDE apps I like.
And with the new #ssd disc installed...yeah, now we're talking about booting fast!

Take a window manager developed in the early 1990s, apply styles and graphics from modern Mint. #LinuxMintDebianEdition's default environment, Cinnamon, has fantastic aesthetics, and I wanted to apply those to this.

There were screenshots. There was measuring pixels in those screenshots. There was taking the Mint window buttons and making new buttons for CTWM. There was menu buidling and coding Cinnamon's keyboard shortcuts.

In short, it's the #LinuxMint experience, 1991 style.

I've found it very functional. There are some odd issues, like #Vivaldi being unable to sync (so I run it in incognito mode so it doesn't try to sync), and I've not figured out a way of autostarting a few applications, but otherwise it's a useful, distraction-free work environment. I was literally just using it to finish some remote work for the office.

I don't know if I'll take this any further, but it's been a fun and interesting little project, and I will definitely put this to future use.
